ACC

For quite a while I used ACC (animalcrossingcommunity for those who haven't visited) and I sometimes looked at the forums which was useful, but lately I've been having problems there - not sure if it's me or the site. I just got a warning for spamming because I commented about the thread itself and not the actual topic. (mind you, most of the posters on there weren't talking about the topic at hand) Another time, some girl was selling giant clam shells for 100k per shell and she said I was very rude because that price seemed ridiculous to me, as I find them ALL the time. That didn't seem rude at all.

Anyways, has anyone else had small issues with ACC or is it just me? xD

(also I hope this is in the right section.. if not, my bad ;_;)

I actually saw that thread and the clam shells, and I saw your post. I thought she was being quite unreasonable with her price and her attitude was a bit uncalled for. But oh well, its in the past. I'm not a huge fan of ACC, but I still go on occasionally. :3 I really dislike ACC's layout...kind of overwhelming for me with too many links.

Ew I hate animalcrossingcommunity. I got banned on 3 different accounts within days for basically no reason.

Too many little kids who think they own the place. Not to mention the entire website is designed horribly. It's a webpage designer's worst nightmare. Not only is it hideous but it's impractical. Its difficult to read anything because its in size 2 font and that periwinkle color is tragic.

Lol i got infracted for overdoing caps. i dont think that that is such a huge issue.

Nonetheless, acc is a really weird community and their system of FC exchange is like a riddle lol

ok imma be honest, i've legit gone onto ACC and told them they should leave and go to TBT (I've doe this multiple times) I didn't even get an infraction or warning or banned or anything. I honestly don't know how the hell you guys are getting warnings and infractions for stupid things.

The only bad thing about ACC is that it's over run by like 12 year olds, the 349872359784 sidebar options, and the layout is horrible (and maybe a few other things but I don't use ACC so I can't remember)

Their reports system is actually pretty good, they actually tell you whether or not your reports get fulfilled or declined. That way you actually learn what's seen as 'rule breaking' and what isn't - and thus, you know what to report in the future because you know what they do and don't take action on, instead of spamming the report CP with useless reports.
They also change their banner on a monthly basis, which I think is pretty nice (even though they're not that great, it's still a nice touch). Even the polls and AC calendar on the side bar is a pretty nice touch.

Tho TBT > ACC but still, you're all treating ACC too harshly, and its obvious that the majority of these are lies or at least, misinterpreted. (I've said omg on ACC many times, and then there's this post I made already).

And tbh I actually prefer strict rules on ACC and other sites, it keeps the members in line. I go on plenty of forums that have strict (and possibly even stricter rules than ACC), some where you even have to actually send a moderator a PM asking them to lower your warning level, it doesn't go down automatically. People (especially me) get away with so much **** on TBT it ain't even funny. I mean the amount of spam I see here is ridiculous. I mean how often do you go into a thread and see a post that doesn't even contribute to it.

But yeah, I don't even like/use ACC, I'm just trying to speak from a non-biased POV.

Yeah no, I legit got a warning for saying "omg".

umm no? there's a difference between saying 'omg' and 'oh my god'. Yes, saying 'oh my god' is speaking of the lords name in vain, which religious members may find offensive, and if ACC have strict religious rules, then yes, it's perfectly okay for you to get that warning IMO. And it was a level 1 violation which is like nothing, it's basically a verbal warning from a mod on TBT...

You do know what "omg" stands for, right? It stands for "oh my god".

And yeah, it's still a level 1 violation, but a violation nonetheless, which is stupid.

You're super religious? Oopsies, don't take that the wrong way! Either wrong ways..

No, omg can stand for "oh my gosh" or "oh my god". It's just like how on most forums it's okay to say wtf, but you can't say what the **** - once the words get abbreviated the meaning become lesser.

I'm not debating with you, I'm just saying that just because you don't see it as offensive, doesn't mean everyone else does. Personally, I don't see the word ****** (that's gonna censor, so f****t) as offensive but others do, and I understand that. I legit got a warning on TBT just for saying "incest" and tbh, I really don't see the problem with that, and off the top of the bat, yes I think it is a joke, but once you stop to think about it, it can be seen as offensive, even though I don't see it as offensive - and to date I still think it was a stupid reason to get a warning - but that doesn't mean I didn't deserve it because I didn't see it as offensive/wrong.
If they're the rules that ACC want to enforce, than that's a perfectly legitimate reason for giving you a warning, and I don't know why you're complaining, or calling it 'stupid'...
And no, I don't have strict religious values, but like I mentioned before, I'm explaining without a bias.

There's clearly no way I'm going to change your mind on this situation, so I'm over it - but in the future you should probably stop, think and open your eyes to the world and view the situation from another persons perspective, instead of staying in your own world.

Just a last contribution to what you guys were talking about, abbreviating something does sound a lot less severe than just saying it outright. I thought they warned you for saying 'omg' but 'oh my god' can easily offend a lot of people. Yes, we do have freedom of speech in the US, but if others feel harassed (which is up to interpretation) then they have the right to punish you. As someone older I feel that some of what they punish is unfair and unnecessary, but it's not a bad thing to have stricter rules than most forums. Just sayin'

I heard the staff there is like a bunch of 12-year-olds. That doesn't necessarily make them worse than the staff here on TBT, but still.

Hahaha, I remember that thread! And I remember someone saying that to her, oh it's you alright. XD I was surprised because people actually still bought from her. I guess it really depends on the buyer.

Anyway, ACC is really complicated. But I don't hate it to the extent of never going back. I haven't received any warnings at all and I'm pretty sure I've broken some rules already (like how you said you got a warning from just commenting? Or how some people get warnings for selling some other stuff? Or idk. But I've done some stuff like that). I spam quite a lot on there as idc if they ban me or not tbh, but for crying out loud, I haven't received anything. I never even read the rules bc I can't find it.

The layout is confusing, like, where the hell do I go to trade? I just wanna trade, and I have to press bunch of crap. Then one day, I logged on, and the trading section was suddenly on my top left page? And really, I never bothered to go anywhere else or explore that website bc I just get lost. I only really go there to trade. There are some rude, immature people, but there are also some really nice ones. If I don't find anything I'm looking for on the re-tail section here, I go on there, and luckily, I get a lot of help. And most of the people I've encountered are really sweet and full of trust.

It isn't you. The moderators there are too strict. I also think 100k for each GCS is ridiculous considering how common they are.

It depends on what you mean by their staff. They have the owner and two other admins, and then fifteen moderators. The rest aren't really staff. And some of them are pretty young, but last I checked there are a few of them that are around our ages.(17-24)

And to put it straight, if you'd said that on ACC you most likely would have been banned for it. We put up with a lot of your's and everyone else's crap when you're talking bad about us. But since it's really not hurting anything, there isn't a point to do anything about it.

Why do you put up with things like that? Not just that, but other things that probably wouldn't be tolerated on other forums?

On topic: I refuse to use ACC on the basis that it just does not have a user-friendly layout. It just doesn't seem to make any logical sense.
