Since I'm early in the game and 2 or 3 villagers move in within the first week or so. Could one of those move ins cost me a villager that I try to adopt from someone else? Has anyone experienced anything like this happen?

Hmm I don't think so. The other day I adopted Zell from someone and also convinced Zucker to move in from the campsite the same day I talked to Zell. Zucker moved in first, and the day he was unpacking Zell had his stake ups for his house. I was worried that convincing Zucker to move in would negate Zell and send him to the void, since I talked to Zell first and THEN Zucker. But it all worked out. :)

That's double awesome (that, that works and you got 2 really awesome villagers)!

Yeah, I'm sure it'll work out for you too. :) and I agree. Besides Zucker I've gotten other ones from my campsite that I really like and are "highly rated" like Ankha and Tangy and Stitches, and Merengue moved in one day randomly after Renee moved out!

You have a very lucky campsite!
