Um excuse me? Youre the one I'm seeing saying you don't want a certain villager because their in a bad tier.

I love the high tier villagers that I have, and I have them because I think they're sweet & adorable & pretty. They fit perfectly with my town. I don't have 'real' tier 5 dreamies that I'm secretly too embarrassed to admit or something. I don't like a villager because of their tier, I like them regardless of their tier. Even if the tier system did not exist I would still want the villagers that I have right now.

it literally doesn't even matter if there were solid "tiers" or not because there will be popular villagers regardless of whatever label theyre given and will always be worth more. if you don't like how it is then play the game how you want it to and get over yourself. plenty of people like villagers for what they look like and not just their popularity. like hey, i'm not that much of a fan of julian either but i don't go on trade forums and call him fugly. just do your own thing

In some way I agree with you, because there are equally adorable villagers that are in tier 5 and deserve to be in tier 1. But then again, this is just a site with peoples opinions. (Not here to judge, promise)

Yeah, that's what I thought. I don't care for the tier list. I don't think anybody is 100% satisfied. It's just everubody has a different opinion. I can't stand Diva. Some people love her.
I definitely agree that there's nothing special about the higher tier villagers, but that's how fads work. Something being popular does genuinely change how people feel about it. It's like how certain clothing styles go in and out of style every few years - they still look the same but we find them attractive or ugly due to popularity.
Anyways if you find the tier system stupid I suggest you cycle in some tier 1s and sell them - that's what made me love the system (and become a bellionaire
). I mean why else would I have Chief right now?

I have animals from every tier in my town. I got them because I like them.
People would still like those same villagers without tiers. People would still pay insane prices for those tiers even without them. The tiers exist not only as a price guide, but as a way for people with unwanted animals to know what to expect if they're putting them up for auction. Nobody will pay the same amount for a diamond and a quartz rock. Nobody should sell a diamond for quartz rock prices, or quartz rocks for diamond prices. It's called supply and demand. It's called economy.
Tiers would still exist with or without a guide. The only negative it really brings is the tier 5's tend to be auto-voided, which I personally dislike, but it's up to the cycler/seller/player if they want to dedicate time trying to give away a villager who most probably won't be taken. At the same time, it's good that a tier 5 exists because it tells the person "Hey, these guys aren't popular, so try giving them away so they end up happily homed." It acts as a guide to newbies so they know not to auction a tier 5, and it's helpful to those of us looking because most cyclers will gladly hold a tier 5 if you ask. It's because of that tier list that I KNEW to ask people to not auto-void Puck.
As for your idea that "People only want them because they're popular," you've got it backwards. They're popular BECAUSE people want them. They're the cuter animals. They're the animals people choose when they're pouring over the Wiki deciding who they want. I wanted tier 1's like Rosie and Lolly far before knowing of a tier list. I let go of villagers like Tia because I disliked them, even if they were a higher tier.
I've never met a single person who bought a tier 1 for popularity. I've mentioned so many times that I don't understand Marshal's appeal, and you know what I got in response? Answers. They like that he's pouty. They like the Smug attitude. They like his looks, his colors, his house. He fits a theme. Multiple reasons upon reasons as to why he is liked. Why do people like Stitches? He's cute. He reminds them of that old beat up teddy bear they all had when they were three. He's a little creepy and looks unique. He's colorful. People like vibrant and colorful animals.
I think you're the one making poor judgments by basically calling people sheep for liking what's popular. People should be allowed to like who they like without people like you bashing on them for their personal choice and aesthetic. It's not cool at all. If they happen to like all the tier 1's, let them. It's their choice and it doesn't affect you in the slightest. You want tier 5's? Great. Get them. Have a load of fun. I'm sure your town will be absolutely beautiful with whatever villagers you choose. You do you.

I agree to a degree, most of my villagers are T4 and T5 and I love them and wanted them regardless of that. But just because you disagree and think they should be 'abolished' doesn't mean you need to voice that opinion, you can keep it to yourself. As said before, the tier system will always be flawed and there will always be disagreements.
Just leave it at that.
Oh and also, maybe it's just me but I have never ever seen someone get made fun of or something for looking for/lurking/wanting a lower tier villager. So I don't understand the 'respect the people that have any sort of dreamie', I think you're just making something out of nothing.
