Bells

Just want to start off saying this will mostly be a rant.
I just discovered today about all the ABD prizes you can get and I'm a bit frustrated that most of them require you to save way too many bells. The highest savings you need to get to is a whopping 100,000,000 bells. I see no way a person could possibly get this without cheating or playing the stalk market for a long time. Most people probably don't want to save all that money for one item but I like collecting all the "special" items I can. So far I saved 1,000,000 from the island but I want to eventually reach the Aluminum Briefcase(5,000,000) and was hoping for a Safe(20,000,000).
I don't really have a question or anything, just wanted to say something about it. If you guys have any thoughts on this I would like to hear them.

Hey!

I think as the game is meant to be played for around 5 years this offers a nice long-term goal. A quick calculation shows me that it would take 250 trips to the island if you just want to make the money by doing bug-hunting trips (I estimated 400,000 bells per trip, no bell-ordinance). This ignores any other profits you make though, from fossils/stones/presents and the interest you earn every month, so it will likely take a lot less. In other words, if you do one trip per evening and add no other bells into the bank account you can have it in less than 3/4 of a year.

Hmm, I don't think it's really an unfair price. I remember when both crowns stocked (on different days) at the Able Sisters' and I made a mil each time to buy them without issue, so making money quickly isn't impossible - but the more money you make, the more you can invest in the stalk market, so there'd be a snowballing effect there, right? It would almost definitely take a few months at least to reach the highest reward, but I rather like the way the game paces itself more slowly, so I think that's just personal preference.

I think the ABD is really ridiculous. By the time you have that many bells, having the ABD item in your house is less useful.

I imagine that's partly why the 7/11 version is in such high demand. You can get it easier and actually have it be used.

In response to princelio, technically a person could reach the highest price in a day.(Sunday in their town, high turnip price in another) But I also like the slow pace in this game so I never play the stalk market at a large scale.

And in response to Datura, I'm too lazy to visit the island everyday  and if each island trip took 30 minutes it would take a total of about 5 days non-stop to get all the money.

But I guess the ABD can be considered some sort of "end-game" thing. I'll start focusing on it once I actually pay off my home loan.

Ahh yeah, true! I was thinking about playing at the severely casual rate that I play at, hahah. I don't go to the island every day and only really visit if I want to pay something off, so for me it would/will certainly take awhile.

I most definitely agree with the OP as it would take 600 visits to the Island if you only go once per day and collect all 40 bugs just to save enough Bells to unlock the Safe for 20,000,000 Bells.

I have a Japanese friend who has the 1 billion bells badge. So yeah. . . it's possible.

Like others have said, it's rather pointless to have an ABD in your house if you've reached 100,000,000 bells.

By then, I imagine all PWP and anything else that requires bells is already completed.

There's nothing to do at that point but bathe in your near-infinite pool of money.

But then again, the game was meant to be played over the course of a long period of time, so maybe the requirements for the rewards aren't as far stretched as they seem..

Regardless to say, I do agree with you OP.

I personally take advantage of the stalk market so I can make roughly 8mil a week, but for those that don't partake in the buying and selling of turnips, I can see the process of getting these rewards being long and frustrating.

I guess all I can say is.. Good luck!

I probably won't ever save up 20mil, much less the 1 billion bells you need for the gold badge. I don't really see items that require such long hours and so much grinding to be symbols of accomplishment as having them earlier in comparison to other players just shows that you have a lot more freetime on your hands. So who's really accomplishing things?

I'm the type who can always find things to improve about my decor or my style, so I'm always hurting for bells (lol), but I have fun playing the game this way, so if I miss out on some briefcases and an atm for my house, so be it. I'll probably have a prettier town than those who manage to save up 100mil bells in less than a year anyway! Haha!

AC is a game meant to be played for years because there's always something to do, and that's why the rewards take a while. If you get the ABD, start working on a perfect town. Once you get a perfect town, work on dream villagers. If you ever actually manage to get your dream villagers, work on getting gold tools and trying to fully complete Main Street. It goes on for a while.

lol what is the max amount of bells you can store up in this game anyway?

I guess people want everything to be easy? I think the amounts are perfectly fine.
No one is expecting you to get the all the prizes in one month or even one year.
