I had a character from my second town come over (local wireless connection) to drop something off. When she was leaving, my game crashed. The second town was fine, but mine crashed. Once I reopened the game (and lied to Resetti - ha!), I had her come back over and it was fine. Still...

This really scares me. If my game gets corrupted, I'll just cry.

(excuse me while I go into a corner and hyperventilate)

Don't worry, I had that happen to me a few weeks ago while doing a TBT to IGB trade. The game just froze and crashed, and my 3DS restarted. I think I nearly went into cardiac arrest. But everything was fine. I don't think you have anythign to worry about.

That happeneds all the time, don't worry. XD.

I guess this makes me feel better. Maybe. Thanks. :)

If it makes you feel any better, there are ways to back up your save file in case of accidents. Plenty of guides exist on these forums and on google in general (I would link you but I'm currently stuck on mobile x3)

My game has never crashed or anything but I totally empathize with you. There's nothing worse than losing hundreds of hours in data and hard work. And I have heard of others facing data corruption and it's a really scary thought.

While I think you are fine, it may not be a bad idea to look into backing up your data just in case. That way you never need to completely start over and you have some peace of mind.

I second this and I'm actually in the process of doing this to my game files as well. My boyfriend's original town corrupted (and we both have physical copies of the game) and I've been terrified ever since...especially since my original town is over two years old and I would have a total meltdown if something happened to it.
