So, I'm posting here to vent a little.

I have Butch moving in right now, and I'm doing the plot reset trick to make him move to where I want, right? Right.
The thing is - HE'S NOT EVEN GETTING CLOSE TO WHERE I WANT HIM TO BE! There are only two places I'd like him to be - none of them are small or specific, mind you -, but he never ever puts his plot there!

Is it possible that he'll never pick any of the places I want him to stay? I am slowly losing my mind at Rover. ):<

Good luck! I know it gets frustrating at times. It took hours to get a villager to plot where I wanted them. Eventually they will go where you want them.

It's ok. I got Francine into the perfect spot the first time, but it took me about 5 hours to get Merengue in a good spot.

It's a matter of luck  I finished plot resetting for Stitches right now and it took me something between 10-15 mins

It took me a while to get Mira in a good spot. She ended up REALLY far from where I wanted her since I gave up. Her house only moved a few spaces left, right, up and down each time. ;7;

GOOG LUCK!

Sounds almost as bad as the amount of times I needed to reset to get Mira from my campsite......TOOK 3 DAYS OF RESETTIN!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh my god, I surely wish I won't have to take 3 days of resetting so I can get him to the correct place.... ?____? That would be a major killjoy if I had to do it.

But thank you, guys! I will surely keep on trying until I can make that pesky dog find his place! Just not today..... I have already spent 5 hours resetting with no success.... hahahaha

Try TT'ing 1 day backwards using the DS clock.
However, DO NOT load up your mayor account after.
Test to see if the plot is still there by creating a new character, if it is - then the following won't work.

If there is not a plot, then it is safe to load up your mayor account.
Place a fence wherever you don't want to villager to show up anymore, and
maybe that'll help :) It worked for me when I was plot resetting 3 villagers (in a row).

Very useful.. good luck~!

mayorkiyo, I prefer not to. I have tried to do this trick before, and it kinda made a villager force-move to my town. Like: when I loaded the town with the new character, it didn't show anything, but when I entered with the mayor, BAM: the villager was there. I had at least three villagers going into bad spots because of this. ):

GaMERCaT, my entire town is almost complete, with PWP's and a nice path all around it. If a villager moves to anywhere, it would be a major headache to redesign everything I had planned.
Also, I really like the look of several villagers living one next to the other, I think it's very cute.
... also, I really really don't want to have a villager standing right next to one of my bridges, that would be awful.
There are many upsides to plot resetting. The only major downside is that you do need to have loads of pacience.

i have some villagers in a line at the bottom of my town. first one was pure luck and the rest i reset.
BUT. they get gradually further apart from each other and it drives me mad. but i just couldnt take reseting anymore so >___<
and lucky's house is one space too low but I'll live.

Remember, he can be two spots away from any PWP and one spot away from the river and/or rocks. If he fits in this category, then you can put him in the area you desire. The game is set up to put your villagers in the most spacious spots, and often times they will plot themselves right down in the same area over and over. Just keep trying.

iamnothyper, my villagers are all lumped up in two sections of the town, but very next one from the other. The only exception is Winnie, who's directly under the town hall.... alone from everyone... :p

Neriifur, it seems that both of the places I want are good places. One of them, the ideal spot, is between two villagers' houses. There's plenty of room for him to put his house there, 10 spaces wide between one house and the other. The other is an open field where other houses are. There's absolutely nothing there that could hinder him - except from the houses.
And yeah, he's plopping his house at two different places: in another empty space that nobody is living - which is nice, but it is so lonely and weird with just him up there....... and right beside the goddamn bridge, which I really really really don't want him to stay. :/ Guess it's a long journey for me and Butch and Rover.

I spent about 8 hours trying to get Kid Cat in a spot between two houses that was perfectly okay. 20/50 times (huge percentage) he plopped down in the exact same spot where Mira used to live. In the end I actually gave up.

If you can try the PWP trick as someone said earlier, try that out so he stops plotting down in certain areas.

Heisenberg, I feel your pain so much... I am hoping you'll find a nice spot very soon!! Good luck!

Does not sound nearly as bad as my experience resetting my Campsite for Mira.....3 days.....no rest......

But Skye......I planed to reset for but got her in my campsite in ONE TRY!!!

Neriifur, oooh that's happening to me as well - Butch eventually tries to land in the same place of where Pippy was.
The only problem is that I have already a PWP that I haven't paid yet... :( the trick might backfire completely. And as I said before, I had awful luck in the past with false-alerts.
