Did you regret it, how long did it take to get back the things you couldn't transfer from someone else's island, etcetera?

Because I've been heavily debating it for a few weeks now...I just hate the thought of losing all of my DIYs and villagers I can't scan in with amiibo.

I don't regret, it took me like two weeks to replay my progress and I didn't transfer anything. One of my dreamies showed up again on a mystery island and one of my other dreamies became someone who was on my island since the very first day now (and I don't like his actual interior). The thing is, with resetting you'll have different luck, but you will have luck. New favorite DIYs and new villagers you don't want to miss.

I reset mine at the end of April and I don't regret it at all. My old island jut didn't have the space on the sides of the river (two south exits) to do what I wanted to do with my villager houses. I didn't take everything, but I took most of what I wanted that was generously held by a user on this forum. A few cyclers held some my villagers also so that made it easier since I didn't leave my villagers behind which would have been much harder.

I have gotten all of my DIYs back through trading and I took my time TTing up to present time and I didn't advance until I had everything possible from each seasonal event. The cherry blossom were a little annoying to get back ngl (and very expensive).

I recommend doing it if it's something you're considering. There's a ton of awesome people here who can help you hold your stuff and some of your villagers if you're interested in that, but remember to have fun with it and don't stress!

Thanks for the feedback, guys!

I have almost 150k Nook Miles and I'm planning to cash in all of it for NMT to hunt for my lost perma-villagers. And once I get everything dumped on my husband's island ..I will be ready to reset and hope to the gaming gods I find a decent layout!

what ive done the past few times is have someone hold the stuff you want to transfer over to your island (any furniture, bells, nmt, clothing) and then go back and grab it as soon as I could

It normally takes me around 5-6 hours or so to get to the point of upgrading my rs as well as having nooks built....crafting all the furniture for the first 3 plots as well as getting all the materials for nooks is what i think takes the longest

I reset because of my time travel habits ruining certain aspects of the game for me. I do not regret it at all. I feel great and I'm having fun on my island without any time travel. To get back to being even close to where I was with stuff you cannot save or transfer, it definitely took me about 3 days to a week to even make a dent in my progress. Museum is always like 2 or 3 days as well as the shop for me and getting resident services upgraded took about a week I think?

Edit: Misread your post lol

i reset and don't regret it at all! i did have my friend hold onto a few items and a villager for me, but everything else was pretty easy to recover from. i actually spent less time getting back to where i was before since i had a better grip on the game/what i wanted to do with my island and how to get there!

I had the same issue. I really wanted Tybalt to be one of my starting villagers since it was the first time he was in a game's normal lineup since GC (without amiibo). I ended up SRing for 4 hours and I found an island I liked with native fruit I liked but it had Bam and Katt. I didn't realize you could island hop for villagers and I didn't know that you could soft reset for villagers either so I ended up with Derwin, Bubbles and Cally. Within the day I ended up time travelling all the way until the town hall and I regretted everything. I got my bf to hold my items and deleted my town (I'm not one to ever delete saves) I soft reset for another 6 hours and got Tybalt and I ended up enjoying the game a LOT more.

I don't regret resetting at all. It took one night to transfer everything over (but I was pretty new). My recommendations is to find someone who's willing to hold your special villagers for you and to craft important DIYs if you can. Buy as many nook miles items as possible thats transferable and you should be okay. I started a new character on my island and getting the DIYs again is really satisfying. Besides, there are a ton of us willing to help you out if you decide to reset :)

This exactly!!!! Literally my exact situation. I time traveled because of villagers but it caused me to progress to quickly and also ruined my stamps!!! I couldn't take it so my girlfriend held some stuff for me and I reset until I got Dom, I got lucky to have Phoebe as my Uchi but I still plan to let her go eventually. No more time travel for me though. This is my 3rd island and all because I kept time traveling on the first 2 for my villagers. I'm learning to be so much more patient now and just working really hard and hoping for good villagers. So far I don't hate a single villager on my islans despite not using time travel. All thanks to luck and island hopping early on.

I deleted my old island for a varity of reasons. It got to a point where i wasnt enjoying working on it so starting a new one felt like the better option instead of constantly trying to force myself to keep going. I even took some time off to think about it before i took that final step.

The only thing i kept is the NMT to help me with finding my new villagers but i would have kept my flowers and favorite things if i did not want a totally new start.
