A new duplication glitch has discovered!

I‘m aware they’re identical and I try not to quibble too much about if, say, someone TTed to speed up a catalog order process. Where I personally draw the line for myself is taking advantage of turnip prices gained through TT or special event items that are supposed to be seasonal. like I want the frozen stuff so badly, but I will wait until winter because it bothers me to get it via TT. It’s just my own personal moral code, I decide based on what I’m comfortable with or not and I am well aware the majority of players do some TT. I just have to decide how much I’m okay with gaining from those players.

and yeah, anything that was outright hacked or duped, I’m against morally and also afraid of since you never what the ripple effects in your game will be from that.

That line is very wise. :D

I TT but I have rules about it. I can not TT more then 7 days into the future. I can only TT to the past I have already been to. So that would be from the release date to 7 days from today. I mostly go for a couple reasons. To get rid of a villager and to get anything I missed (fish and bugs). Also rain for growing flowers some times. That's it.

Though I am not against taking trades for future DIY. :D In the end it is up to us all to decide.

yeah, no judgment or grudge against anyone who does TT whether they keep rules about it or not. It’s your game and your choice. I’m just strict with myself about my personal set of rules.

honestly, if people want to take the risks to dupe items or buy those hacked trees or whatever, the same principles kind of apply—your game, your call. I just wish people would be upfront and transparent. If you’re selling or trading a duped item, tell people. If you offer a high turnip price but you got it by TTing back and forth for hours, tell people. And for heaven’s sakes, if you’re selling a hacked tree, make sure people know it is 100% not in the code of the game and has unknown future consequences. Some people won’t care, others will, let them make their own informed decisions. That’s all I ask.

well, that and, if you do something this stupid (intentionally stopping the auto save in the middle) and your save file gets corrupted, don’t come crying to Nintendo about it.

saw a video but the person didn't even put a warning about corrupt saves and the comments were wild. it might get patched with the new event coming up. well I hope it does.... im hoarding all my nmts atm 😭

imagine having to use an exploit to cheat in a very easy as hell game

Man guess the economy will just never recover... Imagine a world where 1 TBT is the same value as 1 NMT... You know, where making a one sentence post is worth the same as farming 2000 whole nook miles. I've said it before in a different thread but, this post alone will probably get me like 4 TBT and there is no way writing this was the same level of effort as farming 8000 Nook Miles in game... Just makes me so sad.

hahahahahHAHAHAHAH are you kidding me

nintendo, what are you doing?

I thought 1 NMT : 3 TBT was bad enough, now we're well on our way to 3 NMT : 1 TBT

to be fair, this one seems out of Nintendo’s control. Tbh I think it would be better termed an exploit as opposed to a glitch. People are just taking advantage of the auto save system. I don’t think this one can be prevented without actually removing the auto save feature.

I don't think that in isolation, the discovery of this is bad. What does concern me is that this is the third duplication glitch that has been found in under two months, and the second one hasn't been completely patched yet. I'm more concerned about the broader trend of dupe glitches being found and Nintendo being very slow to respond.

Where other games ever this bad with dupe glitches? I know there were dupe glitches in the other games but... never this many. How many have we had now, 5? I can't even keep track anymore

Wait, didn't they just patch one? Hopefully this new one isn't quite so easy to exploit...

Edit: If anything, it is easier, but also pretty risky. It's also not a new exploit, it has been around since the game was released and has been known about for about as long.

I think that we're only discovering more because Nintendo is forcing people to switch methods as they patch them. There's probably multiple ways to duplicate things in NL, we just never discovered them because there was never a need to. Given that Nintendo's already shown that they are making at least an attempt to patch the dupe glitch out of the game, people have an incentive to find new glitches to continue doing what they're doing.

The number of different dupe glitches isn't something that I'm particularly concerned about. I'm more concerned about Nintendo's slow and ineffective response to these issues, particularly with the last patch that can barely be called a fix.

Interesting thing was this was actually old and discovered at launch. It's just gained traction as the other 2 glitches have been patched and no other one has been found yet. The "big" glitch that allowed for duping NMTs was also known for quite some time, but was kept underground. The people that knew it used it to exploit others (I actually saw a post where someone bragged about using an "unknown" NMT dupe glitch a few weeks back to make real money off of people -.-) before someone leaked it publicly probably due to seeing such behavior. As far as I know, no new dupe glitch has been found for at least several weeks now.

Huh. Interesting. I don't think that excuses their somewhat slow response to the first dupe glitched, and it definitely doesn't excuse their even slower response to the second dupe glitch. Regardless, Nintendo needs to respond faster to these kinds of things. Even in a game as noncompetitive as Animal Crossing, removing glitches is a non-negotiable good.

Definitely agree that the glitches should be fixed as soon as possible. The first glitch was fixed fairly promptly IIRC. The 2nd dupe glitches patch took too long, but I think it was because they wanted to release 1 update that patched both glitches rather than 1 for each glitch.

ignore this my phone auto posted when being in my pocket
