A different kind of time travelling

So I was thinking about I wish I could see my town and how it was in the early stages. My town has changed so much over the years and sometimes I long to be reminded of the old days. I wish there was something like a time machine but it works like the dream suite. You can visit your town at any stage of the past and just see how different it used to be, how your style of decorating was a year ago, or who your villagers were back then. You can do whatever you want in your town but it wouldn't affect it's present day state.

However, I see that this is not really plausible since people do time travel and so their towns would have multiple states for the same day, and I don't think it's realistic that the game would save what the town looked like every single day.. But maybe we can save multiple states of our town in the dream suite and we can choose which version to visit every now and then. This way, not only can you save your town in multiple seasons, you can also see how your style has changed and you can show this to others as well!

Or is it just me who feels nostalgia for the way my town was before it was in an extremely developed stage? Before I had every amiibo card and could order all the new items whenever I wanted. Before I had my dreamies. Before I made any paths or custom patterns.. I just really want to be able to look back and remember..

I love this idea! Sometimes I go back through my old pictures and it's fun to see how my town has changed and evolved over time, but being able to visit my old town in a dream would be so much more fun. Rather than just a snapshot, getting to see how everything looked and talk to all my old villagers would be amazing.

i hack my town occasionally and so i save my town to my computer about twice a month and whenever i feel like looking at my town from long ago, i just load up one of my old saves and see how everything was. the nostalgia is so nice :')

I like the idea of saving earlier versions of your town. I think there would probably be limited slots for these "memories" due to Nintendo not wanting to store hundreds of the same town on their servers, but it would provide a great way to look back on the progress of your town. Right now my town is at its beginning stages, and while I'm excited to develop it further, there is something I will miss about the open fields it currently consists of.

This is such a good idea! I remember looking through my sd card picture and seeing my screenshots of the best times in my town.

It made me so sad to see it because I was actually only about 8

I restarted my town recently. So maybe I can make more memories through screenshots and leave my older self some nostalgia. ^^

Ah, yes I feel that kind of nostalgia. This may be actually a little different, but I do save my towns in the dream suit before adding a big change - or a reset. I'd visit there now and then, from either from my brand new town after reset or my other town. It always makes me feel so weirdly nostalgic, and a little bit sad, that this town - of those past days doesn't exist anymore. It makes me visit there again, just to be in there again - the town in lost days.

Darn it, you're just making me miss my early days when I played New Leaf. My town was a mess, finding out cool things, messing with my villagers... Before the Welcome Amiibo update came around, the dream suite had duplicate dream addresses of our own towns meaning that we can see our older versions of it. I was able to visit my old dream town in which was swamped with flowers everywhere. I have a lot of photos stashed in a computer (but sadly, it's become horrible as of late) and so much nostalgia is being punched to my stomach.
