Inspired by one of the episodes of The Wacky Adventures of Ronald McDonald, I decided to host a tricky quiz where you have to solve these riddles. Here’s the catch. If you’re the first person to answer a riddle correctly, you will earn 100 TBT, out of the four riddles available.

Rules:

1. You can answer only one question per post. I do not want to see anyone answer more than one question in each post.
2. You can only guess each question once. Right or wrong, you cannot answer it again once you made a guess. Since there are four questions, you only have four attempts, one per question.
3. Only the first person to get the correct answer will win 100 TBT. But if you win once, you cannot play again.
4. No post merges.

Riddle #1 (answered by sleepydreepy):

It was one of the leading causes of death under communism, and one of the ten plagues of Egypt. It used to be a major problem in America, but was later driven to extinction.

Locusts. China once had something called the “Four Pests Campaign”, which was enforced by Mao Tse Tung. The problem was that one of the pests, sparrows, ate insects. This lead to an increase in locust population, which ate the crops and lead to starvation. According to the Exodus, it was the 8th plague of Egypt. And in the 1800’s, locust plagues used to be common in America, but after changes in farming practices and other preventive measures, the Rocky Mountain Locust went extinct in 1902.

Riddle #2 (answered by xlisapisa):

It rises from the east, and sets in the west. It has power over the world, yet is hated by many.

The United States. It started from the East Coast, and it’s set in the Western Hemisphere. It has world power, and is one of the most hated countries in the world.

Riddle #3 (answered by Roxxy):

It’s bigger than the Earth, but weighs as much as a strawberry and younger than Drive-Thru.

The Internet. The amount of data makes it seem larger than the Earth, but the amount of electrons transmitted generates enough weight to weigh as much as a strawberry. It also started in 1989, whereas Drive-Thru was invented in 1975.

Riddle #4 (answered by JellyBeans):

Some people don’t believe in it, yet it’s very harmful to everyone.

Global Warming. The effects of it hurt everyone, but there are still people who don’t believe in it.
