I hope I'm in the right forum for this...

So, has anyone else accidentally ejected their game cartridge picking up or moving their 3ds?

The first time it happened to me was when I was on the island in AC:NL...lost about 5 golden stags and a bunch of other beetles cause someone thought it'd be a good idea not to let players save while on the island (I usually save my game before I close the 3ds).

Second time was with AC:NL again, but I had saved recently and the only thing I lost was four patterns I put down on the ground (thankfully).

Still, I find the design terrible. I've been playing handhelds since the gameboy (though, the gameboy pocket was my first handheld), and the cartridge was designed to be put in and it stayed in. None of the "press on it and it ejects" stuff; you pushed it in and pulled it out.
I really prefer that method, because there was no way to accidentally have the cartridge pop out on you. Even if you dropped the thing, that game cartridge stayed put.

I'm starting to lean towards downloading games from the eShop to prevent this from happening, but I'm sort of a bargain hunter...if I find the hard copy of a game at a cheaper price, I'll prolly get that.

It is annoying that there's no cover or anything. If they had designed it with a cover like the SD card has, then there would be no issue. Granted, I need to be careful where I grab my 3ds, but it really shouldn't pop out so easily. >.>

I have a nice silicon case.
I have a nice little pouch.
I put my 3DS in the pouch, and it didn't really fit because I had my earbuds at the bottom. I get home, and AC:NL was ejected.
I lost a PWP. :) :) :)

No, I have never accidentally ejected it at all. Not even close. It stays firmly in place with my 3DS and it's far enough away from the "L" and "R" buttons that it would be pretty difficult to accidentally pop it out with the fingers. You have to push and hold it down for it to pop out, unless there might be something wrong with your 3DS in that area. Is it really old?

I'm always worried that, when I stick the 3ds in one of my cargo pockets, the cartridge will bump something and pop out like that.

The 3ds is new, and there's nothing wrong with it (I recently got an XL, and it has the same problem with the same amount of pressure); I don't push very hard, but I'm talking about grabbing the 3ds. I'm not squeezing it, but I've picked it up with enough finger strength not to drop it...which apparently is enough to pop the cartridge out. I've never popped it while playing (as it is far enough away from the L and R buttons), only when I pick it up.

I had this problem once, but only when I picked up my 3ds after switching games. So maybe I didn't put it in fully? :)

Yeah, I read your original message. I just can't figure out why that would happen unless there was a problem with it. I mean, hell, my 3DS has even fallen on the floor off of where I set it down more than once and even with that it never pops the cartridge out, much less where I'm constantly picking it up back and forth from where I set it down (since I multi-task a lot). I can't figure out why that would happen.

I've occasionally had the cartridge eject, but it's typically when in transport either in a pocket or backpack. While I've lost some data, I don't think it's anything major for me to cry over.

I've never has something like that happen to me, albeit I don't carry my 3DS around often.

I have had my cart pop out while walking about, which I don't get how it does it as I had a silicone cover covering it at the times it happened...

I've never accidentally ejected the cartridge before. But I have hit the l&r buttons by mistake. :p

I've done this far too many times to count lol. Lost so much doing this since I'm stupid and leave my DS on for like 2-3 days at a time without saving.

Sometimes I show my DS with hands on bottom half fingers on slot and could lose grip and accidentally press.

At least I'm not the only one it's happened to. One'd think Nintendo would fix that problem for the new "New 3ds" before adding more buttons. >.>;;

I'm not being funny but Nintendo moved the cart slot to the bottom of the 'new' 3ds so they have either solved the problem or worsened it.. I think it may be worse now :[

The other day I dropped my 2Ds, cartridge flew across the floor.

Oops.

On topic, it has actually happened to me. It only takes a lil bit of pressure to pop it out.

They're putting it on the bottom? O.o

I can't even imagine that. Since the days of the Game Boy, the cartridge has always been inserted from the top! That just blows my mind...and yea, that'd make the problem worse, since I'm sort of used to gripping it from the sides and bottom. I only accidentally pop the cartridge out on the 3ds when I pick it up...if the cartridge has the same pop-in/pop-out technology on the 'new' 3ds and is on the bottom...welp, I'd prolly wind up popping it out during gameplay. >.<
Eh, I didn't plan on getting the new model, anyway.
