25th anniversary + leaf statue item

Nintendo just dropped an update with a letter celebrating Animal Crossing's 25th anniversary and containing a leaf statue furniture item. I can't believe it's been that long. So many memories.

It would have been nice though if instead of a leaf statue item, they gave us the villager statue from the original game. Missed opportunity there.

I think it’s already too late to bring in all of the missing furniture, but I’m sure we’ll see that in the next Animal Crossing game.

Going back to my predictions from October, we've not got any new merch drops as of yet... but today, we did get a lovely bit of social media art (although I think out of the three we've got since 2016, it's not my favourite... that one is the 2021 one, that one was absolutely ), the original game's soundtrack on Nintendo Music, so I'm glad to have gotten those two right at least. Still holding out hope that the GC game comes to the GC Nintendo Classics app later this year too, once Super Mario Sunshine and Pokémon Colosseum have finally ended up there.

But yes, I felt like they might do something for this today (thought they might back in 2021, too... but they were very much in Further Update Development Hell back then). It's an incredibly slight update even compared to 3.0, and I was hoping when I saw the topics page for it on my Twitter feed this morning we'd get more AC series-themed furniture (like the furniture you got in Welcome amiibo for scanning the AC amiibo figures)... but I'm a big fan of the N64 game themed postcard it was sent out on, and I'm glad to see that they're finally, finally, adding more patterns to their official island.

Is this finally it for NH? Yeah, probably, unless they decide to do some more micro-updates throughout the year adding more AC series specific furniture (again, Isabelle's cable-knit jumper would be a good Nintendo Switch app item, I've got 3000 Nook Points doing absolutely nothing) As I said back in January, this is very much just a stopgap until the next game comes out, and that's in all likelihood sometime in the next couple of years.

It was such a lovely surprise! The design they created to send the letter really tugged at my heartstrings. I can't believe it's been that long since the series came out.

I got it and it's very appropriately in the vacant area in front of Resident Services. The letter is also favorited.

I'd have downloaded the update straightaway if my parents didn't hide my Switch and I was in the middle of my studies.

Hopefully I can still get it around June? But that would be too late already...

EDIT: Forgot to wish AC a Happy 25 Years. I've been so hyperfixated on and caught up with Pokémon's 30th that I didn't see another anniversary coming. But then again, isn't Pokémon significantly more popular?
