If you look at the context rap music has come out of you can begin to see the reasoning behind it and the "art" I like some rap, but I feel awkward around the hardcore rap music lol! and look at our times right now, were not so much worried about putting out quality things right now, but its amazing the amount of totally different types of music previously unimaginable and its all about putting a personal style or spin on things.... Mel Martinez for example! but however I don't think its relatable to me and I just think she's milking people who fall for her weird goth, angst, singing thing... Adele however comes into the game and just sings better than anyone, giving quality songs about her love tragedies, easily relatable to so many people. Its a weird time in music, but since the tools to make music are so widespread and easily communicable we have to deal with some crap

Yeah, let me tell you something though, about Adele. It's most likely gonna happen again. She became really popular around like, 2011-2012 with her music, and then she vanished, like-- gone. She comes back in 2015 with Hello and people go insane. She's gonna end up vanishing again sooner or later. Or that might be just me, because I haven't heard from her in so long and Hello just shocked me I was like, well hello to you too damn you died for like 3-4 years. Most rap is hardcore, some rap isn't, I'm okay with very little rap. Some is okay, some makes me want to vomit.
Melanie Martinez isn't going for relatable, I know her fanbase doesn't like her being compared with Miley, but she's trying to get that Miley kind of attention. She's doing weird things, making 'adult baby' related songs, I mean, the title 'Crybaby', 'Alphabet Boy', 'Mrs. Potatohead', and in some videos she's even dressed up like a baby, if I remember. It's stuff like /that/ that grabs peoples attention. Like how Miley did Wrecking Ball, We Can't Stop, and all this other crazy bs to get her point across, I think that's what Melanie is going for necessarily.
