Sorry for my bad english; as many of you may notice, I am not an english native speaker.
This is a simple thread, please show respect for everyone's opinion.
What's your personal game of the year for the past ones?
I'd like to see what y'all will decide.
You do not need to choose a famous or loved game, you can just put in the list the game you enjoyed the most in a particoular year, based on your feelings and experience. I, for example, did not played many 2011 games, because back then I was just a kid, so I'll choose Pokémon SoulSilver for that particoular year, even if I'm convinced there are many other better games out there.
If you want to share your opinion on those games and explain why you chose them, you are welcome!
Here's my list. I decided to put games wich came out in different years based on different countries in the year they were released in my country (Europe).
And so that's it! As you can see I basically only chose Nintendo games, but I play on PlayStation too, in fact I mentioned some games from PS4.
The last years were for me kinda bad if we talk about videogames, with 2017 being the most beautiful one, and I hope 2021 will be good too.
I'd really like to see something like BotW2, a new Mario or even a new Xenoblade. We'll see.

2010: Pokémon SoulSilver Version (Nintendo DS)
This game was my first Pokémon game ever, and I still love it. Even if nowadays I do not enjoy mainline Pokémon games as much as when I was a kid, I still like to play this version. I even have my PokéWalker perfectly functioning.
2011: Super Mario 3D Land (Nintendo 3DS)
One of my favourite Nintendo games ever, I remember my cousin playing it on his original 3DS back in 2011, and I loved playing it when I got my 3DS one or two years later. It is such a simple 3D platform, still everything about it just give me joy, from the colours to the 3D models.
2012: //
There's no particoular game wich came to my mind about 2012. Surely there are New Super Mario Bros. 2 and Pokémon Black 2 and White 2, but those didn't really lived to my expectations and I don't think they are at other games level, so I'll leave this blank.
2013: Animal Crossing New Leaf + welcome amiibo (Nintendo 3DS)
Probably my favourite 3DS game,it was my first serious introduction to the series after I played Wild World every once in a while as a little kid. I could write about this game for hours, but I'll just say it is fantastic and my favourite game in the AC series.
2014: //
The same as 2012, I could choose Pokémon Alpha Sapphire or Kirby Triple Deluxe but I do not think those are just as spectacular as other games here.
2015: //
It is strange but I literally played not a single games from 2015. Yep, that's it. I love to death Xenoblade Chronicles X, Pokkén Tournament and Splatoon, but still, I played them for a really short amount of time on one of my friend's Wii U. So I won't choose them since I haven't (sadly) played them.
2016: Pokémon Sun (Nintendo 3DS)
I haven't played much from 2016 either, but Pokémon Sun and Moon are games I really like, maybe my favourite Pokémon games ever. I remember waiting and speculating on them during summer with my best friends back then, it was so much fun. We played the game togheter and we enjoyed it, really. Plus, it was probably the last Pokémon game I enjoyed as a full-Pokémon fan, since after 2016 I started playing the games less and less and I never experienced the same hype after. I did not even bought all the games wich came after, playing UltraMoon for the first time in 2019 and Shield late last year.
2017: The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild (Nintendo Switch)
This was such a difficoult choice. My favourite game ever is Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, because I remember the 11-years-old kid me trying to buy a Wii U just for Mario Kart 8 just to fail, and then in 2017 the Switch came out and they announced the Deluxe version. I was SO HAPPY, I still play the game to these days and I find it a fantastic game. There's Xenoblade Chronicles 2 too, and I'd like to mention Splatoon 2, but I think Breath of the Wild hold a special place in my heart since I remember the whole world talking about it during the Switch launch year. A fantastic game, and even if I think it has some major flaws, I love to play it, it is fantastic and it also was my second Switch game ever.
Persona 5 is a solid game too, but it just doesn't live up to BotW for me.
2018: //
2018 was the year I did not played videogames at all. For me it was a particoular year and I do not think any games could have make it better. Super Smash Bros. Ultimate is a nice game but I do not fully enjoy fighting games because they aren't my genre, so I'll leave this blank.
2019: //
Sadly the same can be said about 2019. It was a particoular year and even if Fire Emblem Three Houses came out, I still have to finish the game and I did not enjoyed any other 2019 game, mostly because... I did not bought them. I would like to purchase Super Mario Maker 2 this year.
2020: Animal Crossing New Horizons (Nintendo Switch)
This is probably one of my favourite games ever. I love it so much and it is just one of the niecest games on the console, I can enjoy it the way I like and many of my friends play it. It was my game during quarantine (with Persona 5) and I still love it, even if New Leaf is still the best AC, for me. aside from this... 2020 wasn't really the year. Persona 5 Royal cames out and I like it really much, it's a close second place for me, but it's basically a definitive edition of a game wich came out 3 years before and I didn't really tought it was necesarry, I think it is still a little forced, in particoular the new arc. Still a great game.
