I decided to host a true or false quiz, which is not only an interesting game, but it will teach you some interesting facts.

In order to play, you must write down your answers in the comments, then read the spoiler. DO NOT READ the spoiler until you write down all of the answers in your comment. Then you can read and see which ones you got right and which ones you got wrong. The answers will reveal some truths.

The same chief justice that declared tomatoes to be vegetables also declared segregation to be “separate, but equal”.

Before their victory in 2016, the last time the Chicago Cubs won the World Series was before all 48 contiguous states are all US States.

  • #1 - False: When it comes to divisibility by 3, it’s not possible for the numbers in the second group (2, 5, 8, 11...) to be perfect squares. Think of it in modular form. Group 1 is [1], Group 2 is [2], and Group 3 is [3]. While any number multiplied by [3] is [3], [1] by [1] is [1], and [2] by [2] is [1]. You only get [2] by multiplying [1] with [2], and a perfect square is a result of multiplying two of the exact same numbers.
  • #2 - False: Actually, it’s an old theory, originating in the mid-20th century. They theory of Global Warming existed before people were panicking about an impending ice age, which is before the current Global Warming panic.
  • #3 - False: While it may be true that it is Disney’s most successful animated film, the question is based on grosses adjusted for inflation. When it comes to animation, Frozen is only behind Snow White, Pinocchio, and The Lion King.
  • #4 - True: Here is a list of what will fit in St Peter’s Basilica. The Statue of Liberty is one of them.
  • #5 - False: This is a common misquotation. The original quote is “No, I am your father.” Before, he said, “If only you knew the power of the Dark Side. Obi-Wan never told you what happened to your father.” Luke said, “He told me enough. He told me you killed him.” Then you know what he says next.
  • #6 - True: Although there is no flat land we can find, we can see an object of light from pretty far away. Andromeda, which is over a million light-years away, is the furthest object visible to the naked eye.
  • #7 - False: Although it’s true that the Chevrolet Nova didn’t sell well in Spanish-speaking countries because of the name, Nova was actually a name of gasoline sold by Pemex (a Mexican gas company), and that made people think Chevrolet was selling gasoline, not cars. “No va” does not translate to “doesn’t go”, just like how “notable” doesn’t mean “no table”.
  • #8 - True: While Hitler was the mastermind behind the Holocaust, he never even seen how cruel and inhumane the camps were. Ironically, this was also the same person that passed laws against animal cruelty.
  • #9 - False: The opposite is true. The Great Pyramids were built between 2550 to 2490 BC. Cleopatra only lived between 69 to 30 BC. They were built over 2,400 years before her reign, and it’s not even 2,100 years since then.
  • #10 - True: That is absolutely true. If the temperature of the nest is warm, the hatchlings (baby sea turtles) will come out as female. If the temperature of the nest is cool, the hatchlings will come out as male.
  • #11 - False: Antarctica is home to the world’s largest desert. A desert is defined by an area that gets very little rainfall per year. It doesn’t have to be hot or sandy.
  • #12 - True: Star Wars made a total of $42 billion in film, games, merchandise, and comics, which does not beat Pokemon’s $59 billion it made on everything. The force is still strong with Star Wars, it’s just not the very best like no franchise ever was.
  • #13 - False: The voice is really Thurl Ravenscroft, who was more famous for his role as Tony the Tiger and for the Grinch song.
  • #14 - True: Melville Fuller was the chief justice of the Supreme Court between 1888 and 1910. Nix v. Hedden (the ruling that declared tomatoes to be vegetables) was in 1893, and Plessy v. Ferguson was in 1896.
  • #15 - True: Until 2016, the last time the Cubs won was in 1908. Back then, the world was a lot different. One of the stunning facts was that the sinking of the Titanic was more recent than that World Series win. Another stunning fact, New Mexico and Arizona (two of the contiguous states) weren’t states back then. Even one of the two states had their own MLB team that won the World Series before the Cubs won again. There’s much more to say, but this is a big one.
  • #16 - True: If you calculate the mass of all lf the electrons transmitted through the internet, you can get a weight of a strawberry. Electrons are very small.
  • #17 - False: Even if they are too tiny for the naked eye, you can see them through a microscope. Only a more powerful microscope can see atoms up close. Another fun fact is that if a nickel were the size of the Earth, an atom would be the size of a nickel.
  • #18 - True: Although I wouldn’t call it an episode, Stephen Hillenburg did make a SpongeBob short on Global Warming under the name “The Endless Summer”. In the short, Mr. Krabs was pumping out Carbon Dioxide to make summer endless so he can make money off his pool, but it only ruined Bikini Bottom to where everyone left.
  • #19 - False: There’s at least one month where there are just as many letters as the number order is. That is September. It has 9 letters, and it’s the 9th month of the year. Other notable facts is that Friday is the 6th day of the week, and it has six letters. Four is the only number in the English language to have as many letters as its numerical value. Andrew Jackson, the 7th president of the United States, has seven letters in his last name. The list can go on and on.
  • #20 - True: If you combine the electoral votes of the 12 biggest states in electoral votes, you get 281 electoral votes. Even the 11 biggest states has a total of 269 electoral votes, according to the 2010 Consensus.
