Male player here since the Gamecube version. In the Smash Bros game for the gamecube there was a KK Slider trophy, and the description was "will appear in a game soon" or something vague like that. So I got AC when it came out and it has been my favorite video game series since. I'm 30 (well 29 turning 30 this month), and I've gotten all my friends into it (guys and gals). I still like strategy/shooting games sure. But AC is my favorite of all time besides maybe Microsoft flight sim and the old Goldeneye and Starfox for N64.

Hell I'm playing right now, and my best friend just left my town. He had never played an AC game before New Leaf, but I talked about it enough he had to have it. And he loves it.

Today was Benjamin's birthday. I got to find a way to get the sloppy series from him.

Like.... girls aren't usually ashamed to admit that they play Call of Duty. It's a total double standard. No matter what gender or game you play... it's fine.

Doing masculine activities or wearing masculine clothes is found attractive in females, while men are mostly ridiculed for doing feminine activities or wearing feminine clothes. This is because masculinity is empowering, while feminity is seen as weak and inferior. That's what people mean when they say that feminism benefits men too; because if women are seen as equal, men wouldn't be shamed for expressing femininity

I'm a girl, but I only know 3 other people who play this, 1 girl and 2 boys. Granted, I did introduce this to the boys(aka my cousin stole my game and my brother was a nosy 6 year old) and I'm pretty sure my other friend became a hacker and got bored with it. Sometimes my brother plays, but not nearly as much as I have.

I accidentally clicked male...
I WISH that I were a male though...nobody kill me for saying that....

My excuse?
Guys, especially high school guys, are very judgemental, and It's hard enough to be open about ANYTHING when you're like me. Also, guys find it hot when girls play COD, because they can relate to them better, I guess.
If more males were open about what they do, and proud of what they do, even if it's a "feminine" activity, then men wouldn't be as judgmental of one another. It takes honesty and respect to receive honesty and respect. It's a sexist cycle to limit one's own behaviors because of the perceived social image.

Also. Finding it hot when girls play Call of Duty..... is it hot if they fart or talk about their genitals like "guys do"? It's only certain things. Women are only "allowed" to do certain things that make them seem hot to guys in our society. I absolutely despise the 'hot gamer girl' mentality that men inflict on women. I see it at my local card shop, too... girls that play Magic are like rare objects. Women just want to be treated like equal players.

I hate gender norms.

Anyway. My rant is done I guess.

I'm male and the only people I've ever encountered are female. I'm not a hardcore gamer by any means but my brother, who's an extremely hardcore gamer can't wait for an AC Switch announcement.

Hahahaha well, I see your point that you're tryna' make.

Looks like the rules dictate before I can have my opinion I must state that I am a male. Male, male, male. Male.

Yeah, I have noticed trading on the forums that a majority of players are female. Which can again be seen on the poll for the thread at nearly 2:1 ratio, female:male. However, I have only ever played Animal Crossing in real life with other male players. My first experience was borrowing Wild World off a guy from school who was playing with another male friend from school. Caught him a tuna then bought the game for myself. Then at university, I was at a friend's house and we had finished watching the pre-arranged football (Association football, you would never catch him watching American Football,) on TV and then we had a couple of Pokemon battles on the DS, Fourth Generation Pokemon games (DPPtHGSS), since he told me to bring mine. While I was in my DS case he noticed I had Animal Crossing New Leaf and he mentioned he played it too but didn't have it with him. We chatted about the game and that was that. He likes Anime too, at least partially, not sure if that's at all relevant but he mentioned it to me once. Not proper internet-level Anime, he doesn't wear glasses you see, but watches some I'd never heard of. (Pokemon and original series Yu-Gi-Oh is as much as I know.)

So yeah, all real life experiences of Animal Crossing with guys but still more females overall.
