how do you influence which villagers you have?

hi I am still a little confused on how you can either force a villager out or get ones that you like?

could some one please explain how it works? haha

Getting a villager you want to move to get out can be a little difficult. Some people try ignoring, some try beating, but it all random (for the most part) who asks you to move.
If there is a villager you like, look for them of the Villager Trade Plaza. You go to the person's town and when that villager is all packed up, you can convince them to move to your town. That villager will then move to your town in a couple of days (or usually the next day, they will put down their house plot).

No. You have to have 8 or 9 villagers in your town to adopt someone (if you have 10, you have no room). Convincing a villager to move in does not force anyone out, but if you are at 9 villagers and you adopt a 10th, one of your villagers is likely to ping you soon enough to move so your town can have more space.

Some people Time Travel (what's referred to as TT'ing) in order to speed up the process of villager move-outs. Once you have an empty spot, you can visit someone's town and if one of their villagers is in boxes, you can ask them to move into your town. As Forgotten D mentioned, you can visit the Villager Trading Plaza to buy or adopt a villager if someone is offering who you want. You'll just both need to add you Friend Codes and connect over wi-fi.
