how do TBT bells work?

what are all the actions that give you bells? and why are some threads/posts worth more bells than others?

Here are some of the actions that give you bells (as far as I can recall):

• Making a new thread*
• Making a new post*
• Editing a thread or new post*
• Deleting any image files you've uploaded as attachments (it's a refund, as uploading files spends bells)
• Birthday bells (probably removed since 2017/2018; to my knowledge, no one has received any during 2019/2020)

*The amount earned by the following actions depends on how much content (ie. character length) your thread's initial post or any other posts you've made around the site have.

There are also other ways to earn bells, such as selling in-game items, services, or forum collectibles to other members for TBT.
