It has been just over three weeks since I've last gone back to my home island, Aurelia. I was busy doing other things, with most of the time spent driving and racing different cars that the world has to offer. While it's nice fighting for wins, I gotta let off the gas and relax for a while. I missed my island friends and I'm glad to be back.
The first person I met once arriving back home was Sterling. He seems to really like how I look in the blue racing suit that I've been wearing during my time driving, racing, and doing time trials.
I also decided to meet Rocco too. He was worried about me, but I'm glad that he got to see my face again.
And so I went to my house and looks like some roaches decided to live there. I'm not gonna let it happen further, so they are gonna get exterminated all while hearing K.K. Bashment in one of my rooms.
The island has been extra chilly as of late and my race suit won't keep me warm, so I decided to buckle up for the weather. Shortly after, Bea decided to drop by my house and had a small chat with me. She also gave me a peach as a snack too.
I wanted to relax a bit further, so I stopped at Brewster's to drink some coffee. It tasted delicious! I had to cool it down a bit, but still pretty good regardless!
I went to go meet Stitches next and the both of us were happy that we got to see each other again. He got a quick nap on the car bed soon after, though hehe. I'll definitely say hi to everybody, Stitches.
Yes, just over a year and a half later, I still haven't cleaned up the furniture that I used for the 2021 Celebrating Diversity event. I'm such a huge procrastinator.
I spent most of the evening meeting the rest of my friends again, who are Patty, Diva, Gruff, Carrie, Raymond (who miraculously happened to have a golden flooring DIY that I didn't have), and Queenie who decided to invite me to her house.
I ended up playing a game with Queenie and won! I definitely had a great time with her.
But, boy oh boy, I was already tuckered out from all that driving and traveling back home. Drinking coffee from Brewster's didn't keep me awake for much longer, especially when meeting my island friends once again. I'll be heading to sleep now and please don't mind me sleeping in my winter clothes. It's gonna be extra chilly tonight, so it doesn't hurt to stay extra warm. Bring on a brand new day!
Oopsies. I guess I ended up sleeping way longer than I thought! Well now that I've gotten some energy again, let's see what the day has to offer! Even though I started in the evening lol.
Stitches was the first person I spoke to today, and I'm cutified by what he has to say about me. Wait a minute, if my head is big, then that means I need to get a bigger racing helmet!
A part of my island was being invaded by a bunch of weeds. I tell you, it spreads like wildfire if you leave them be. Not to worry! It only took me a couple of minutes to eliminate them muahahaha.
After yanking out a bunch of weeds, I decided to sit down on a small beach up north to gaze at the sun that's already set. And yes, that summer seashell is there during the middle of winter lol.
I bought a pair of red chino pants which I personally think matches up with my jacket and toque!
Bea decided to invite me to her house and I accepted her kind offer. Is it just me or is her house slightly emptier than usual? I'm pretty sure she had lots of food on the table before, unless... Nah, there's no way Bea ate all of it.
She gave me Drivin' as thanks for coming to her house. I remember hearing this for the first time as a live version from K.K. back in 2015 back when it was known as one of those songs you get for typing in an incorrect name. Hmm, maybe I should put this in a music player whenever I decide to drive out on the roads again, especially at night.
To change things up, I decided to visit Harvey's island for a bit and try out a new hairstyle!
I didn't like the result and wanted to change it back.
But while I'm still there, I wanted to stand by the campfire before heading back to Aurelia.
I spoke to Patty and she mentioned Deku from UA Academy. I'm pretty sure she's talking about Riley (@/Midoriya) from Sumeru who started fresh on a new island. It's been a while since I've last seen him, but I still remember those times hanging out together and drinking coffee. Don't worry, Patty. He's doing fine building up his island, and I'm sure you'll see him again someday. But wait a minute, don't you already live on Riley's island?
Oh no! Queenie is sick! And she was feeling fine yesterday. Fear not, Queenie, for here comes Yoshi to the rescue with some medicine! It is sure to make her feel better as quickly as changing tires in Formula 1. I guess the medicine was trained vigorously to kick out whatever illness is bothering her swiftly. Be sure to get lots of rest my friend!
A little while before wrapping up for the night, Raymond was singing at the night plaza with Carrie listening to his performance. I eventually joined in to relax in the chilly weather. Oh, if only the aurora borealis decided to show up. It would've been a spectacular light show!
And that's a wrap for today! I wonder what kind of excitement tomorrow will bring for lap 3 of my island journal.
Not a lot really happened during the day, but there were some things that are worth mentioning heading into the evening.
Someone decided to set up camp on Aurelia today and so I went over to the campsite to check out who it is!
Well well well, it's Flurry. Glad to hear some good things about Aurelia from a visitor! It ain't much, but the laid back nature of this island is something worth enjoying. You should take a lap or two around Aurelia, Flurry! Perhaps you could find the optimal racing line if Sterling ever decides to race against you.
Not long after I finished the visit, I found a lost pouch on one of the paths. I have a suspicion that this belongs to Stitches after investigating it...
I even asked Diva to make sure.
But before I looked for Stitches, the two of us took a picture together.
I managed to find him not long after and he was happy that I returned the pouch to him!
We continued to chat for a bit and Stitches had something interesting to say.
Perhaps we need to colour the ice cubes too, Stitches. They're still water but in solid form haha.
I managed to pick up a bottle from the shore. I was pleasantly surprised to land a DIY to make a wooden musical box!
I visited Cyrus last night to see if he could make one since he did so numerous times back in my old town, Lorule. I guess he forgot, so I took matters into my own hands and crafted one for myself! I should really visit Lorule again sometime. I hope my other friends are doing all right...
Amazing! Just my first attempt in crafting a wooden music box and it turned out great! I quickly had a listen to Drivin' after.
And that's it for now! I'll be gazing up at the moon before heading to sleep.
Lap Day 4: A Hotlap of Aurora Borealis and Corners of Good Music

I didn't really go outside for much of the day as I wanted to spend most of my time indoors away from the cold weather. However, I still had the urge to go out regardless later in the evening. Am I slowly becoming a nightbird? Anyways, I'm glad to have gone outside because the night sky decided to greet me with an aurora borealis!
Today is also the day that K.K. visited Aurelia, so I came on down to the town plaza to hear him perform one of his songs. It looks like Gruff, Rocco, and Raymond turned up as well!
After listening to K.K.'s performance and retrieving K.K. Polka, I managed to pop a couple of balloons and got a DIY that I learned and a pair of simple-accent socks that will help me stay extra warm. Hey, just let me wear double layered socks in peace!
Oh, and uh, Queenie seemed to be slightly defying physics by having her beak go through these sets of stairs. Is this even real life? I think I'm better off not looking into it too deeply...
I decided to head back home and saw that there was a car commercial playing on my TV! This Ounane looks interesting, but I still prefer to drive a Honda S2000 thank you very much.
I'll start getting comfy and type down a few more things that happened today on my computer. Hopefully, the next day will bring something to excite me!
I got the chance to see the sun setting over the horizon. I closed my eyes and let the orange sunlight soak my face. Wow, it's such a relaxing feeling to be in.
I was so carried away that I ended up standing for a few hours and before I knew it, the moon came out. Whoops! Thank goodness I don't have to worry about anything important to do.
But hey, at least I got to zoom by a field of flowers that have spread like wildfire and caught an emperor butterfly!
A bottle washed up on the shore and I've been getting very lucky since returning to Aurelia a few days ago. I got a DIY for a golden bathtub and learned it!
A little later, Patty was playing the drums near the town and so I decided to join in. Let's make some noise!
I bumped into Queenie this evening and she still loves wearing the clothing dress I gave her a couple of years ago. She's been taking really good care of it.
A little while later, Patty and Bea were having an interesting conversation and I was eventually given input on what the former should do.
I personally think that Patty should talk to Sterling and ask what he wants. I believe that communication is key to clearing up some confusion, much like how a driver should communicate to their team if there's anything wrong with their car.
Oh wait, never mind, she's trying to keep it a surprise.
Well there you have it, Bea has a good idea going!
I spent the rest of the evening catching some fish before heading to sleep. I'm glad to have caught a football fish but most importantly, I didn't catch sea bass. This is an absolute win and what a good day it has been for me!
Lap Day 6: Consecutive Corners of Relaxing, Sunny Vibes

I may or may not have ended up sleeping more than 24 hours to the point that I didn't write in my journal the other day. Well, today is another day and very sunny at that too which made me feel very happy. Queenie was dancing near the town plaza and I decided to join as well to let out my energy!
I made a quick pit stop at Brewster's to buy some coffee. I was pleasantly surprised to find Dom again after not seeing his face in a few years.
Before I left, Brewster wanted to give me some coffee beans to me as thanks.
After that, I got to enjoy my coffee outdoors in sunny weather all while my face is being blown with a chilly breeze.
I wanted a little bit of exercise to warm up my body a little more, so I headed back down to the town hall to do some stretching with the residents! I really needed that especially since my body starts to get a little stiff when I'm constantly on the edge racing against others.
Not much else happened, but I really do admire today's weather and just sitting back to relax.
I didn't get around to writing in my journal in the past couple of days as there really wasn't anything noteworthy to put down. Today, however, had a tiny bit of excitement unfold both in the morning and the evening. But first, I wanna gaze at the sun rising from the horizon.
It seems like Sterling already woke up to start the day! What's this? He thinks that I'm getting an early workout. Slow down my friend, I don't want to go flat out just yet and set blistering results.
Oh well. I did go for a small walk around Aurelia and eventually found a snowball for me to kick around!
I saw another one soon after and got to assemble both of them to create a snowboy. He's... a little picky about how I made his body proportions. He should be glad I bothered to put him together in the first place!
I dropped by Stitches's house and he greeted me good morning at full blast. Thanks for waking me up further!
The majority of the day had nothing significant for me to mention. It wasn't until the evening that I listened to K.K. perform a song once more, this time being K.K. Fugue which is apparently one of his newest songs from what I heard! It doesn't hurt to try something new that's for sure.
Patty gave me company as she was already present at the town plaza, so that's pretty neat that she got to experience a new song with me!
I went back to my house to do a couple of things. I turned on the TV and the weather forecast says that it will be sunny again tomorrow!
Soon after, Queenie dropped by my house for a little while.
I don't really mind this at all but wow, she quickly wanted to get comfy on my cushion. Can't say I blame her, though! My home does give off a cozy feeling, especially during winter.
Queenie eventually left and so did I so I could do a couple more things around the island.
I decided to visit Sterling yet again and he seems to be cooking mushroom salad! Not only does it sound yummy, but he was also kind enough to lend me a copy of the recipe for me to learn.
Oh, nice! I just earned more nook miles for simply learning more recipes. It's definitely one of the best highlights for me today.
Lastly, I visited Diva's house and the both of us chatted up a storm about various topics. That was pretty much it, so I'll finish my semi-daily journal for today. But not before the two of us wave you some good vibes!
My island has slowly been overrun by groups of flowers for the past couple of years now. Don't get me wrong, flowers are beautiful, but having them spread like wildfire can be really annoying, especially when I have a tool that will break after repeated uses unless I paint it that magically restores its durability. I'm surprised how no one on my island tripped over them. These hazards should be cleared as soon as possible. I'm pulling out the yellow flag so I can let my villagers know to be cautious around the area. After I cleared out these flowers, I'll be waving a green flag to show that the area is now safe to walk through.
That's one group of flowers done, but there's more to deal with.
Mama mia, they even spread out onto the paths!
And they're gone! I still kept some flower hybrids as they were the ones that should be there in the first place.
The next group of flowers is near Raymond's house! Thankfully, it isn't as large compared to the previous one and hopefully, I don't have to deal with a bigger group down the line. But what's this? Even a rock decided to block a pathway!
Flowers are gone (well, most of them), rock is shattered into pieces, and things are now clear!
I guess I spoke too soon. Here is yet another group of flowers that I have to clear, and a fairly huge one too. *sigh*
Finally, I'm done.
In all honesty, there are still more groups of flowers that I have yet to deal with, but it already took up a lot of time trying to clear them out. Instead of spending the rest of the day cleaning them up, I decided to make a pit stop at Brewster's again for a cup of coffee. I wanted to try things differently by having it at a lukewarm temperature.
Before I left, I noticed these small pictures that were hanging up on the wall. Not only do I recognize the picture of the building on the right, but I notice that Brewster seems to have a good acquaintance with K.K. and Blathers, especially for the latter.
I'm pretty hungry and just want to stay at home for the rest of the day to relax, so I made myself some mushroom salad that I learned to make a couple of days ago!
Time to chow down on my early dinner in my nice, cozy home.
I had a really hard time trying to head to sleep during the night. I feel like it's better for me that I go walk around Aurelia for a little while as opposed to tossing and turning for hours on end.
Brr, it's pretty cold! I should be fine though.
I bumped into Queenie not long after coming out of my house. Perhaps I should have a hot bath sometime to relax both my body and mind.
I went up north after to visit Gruff. Turns out he was already asleep, but I woke him up. Maybe I shouldn't have done that hehehe.
Aaaand, he's talking something about his experience with computers.
After having an entertaining chat with Gruff, I quickly dropped by the campsite to stand near the bonfire. Of course, no one was visiting, so I had the warm flames to myself.
Continuing on my walk at night, I headed west to Rocco's house. I wonder what he's up to?
Oh! Even Diva dropped by to visit him! What a wonderful surprise!
With that out of the way, I decided to visit the museum to admire the fish exhibit. It's really beautiful.
Ahh, just looking at this oarfish reminds me of Camp TBT back in 2021. I even remember seeing one with blonde hair that we nicknamed it OarChris.
I'm getting a little sleepy now, so I think it's time for me to head back home. Sterling already got a head start it seems!
Boy, that was a relaxing night just taking a walk on Aurelia while getting to chat with my friends who were still awake. It's great to take it slow sometimes.
Lap Day 10: Celebrating and A Quick Stint to A Mystery Island

I am very glad to have woken up not too late into the evening because today so happened to be Stitches' birthday! I quickly crafted an Apple Chair as a gift to him. Thank goodness it only took me under five seconds to make. Still got ways to go to rival the pit stop speed of Formula 1 teams, but I sure am happy with the speed I pulled off.
Even Sterling came down to celebrate Stitches' birthday. How thoughtful of him even at this time of the evening.
Of course, Stitches absolutely loved the present I gave him considering I crafted one in the first place. It's not something you'd find at Nook's Cranny!
Thank you, Stitches. It touches my heart how I've made your day the best one this year.
After celebrating his birthday, I decided to request a boat ride from Kapp'n to visit a mystery island for a quick stint of scenery that I'm unfamiliar with.
Upon arriving, I did some things that I could do such as picking up this bottle and learning a new DIY recipe from Fang!
Then I was jumping around collecting fruits and picking up weeds. Gotta get some exercise to get a bit of weight reduction for a slightly better performance when I drive to do some time trials again eventually. Those hundredths of a second make a difference!
Caught a couple of fish too!
And before heading back home, I decided to take a quick photo on this mystery island just enjoying the moonlight up in the sky.
And that's it for tonight! I'll have to listen to Kapp'n singing first, but I will get some sleep upon arriving back home on Aurelia.
What a wonderful day today! Carrie decided to visit my house for a little while which I totally welcome.
Of course, the weather is pleasant once again with the sun shining on my face.
Eventually, I had a small talk with Stitches, Patty, and Diva, all of who were just sitting down on the ground and relaxing on a Sunday. Guys, the three of you should have a picnic together!
Later on, I decided to be daring and go for a swim in cold temperatures. Normally, I would've been frozen to death, but it seems like the wetsuit I'm wearing is providing me with lots of protection somehow from the extreme cold.
I then caught a scallop that Pascal wanted from me. Of course, I accepted his request and got a pearl in return!
I eventually caught a snow crab that was a handful to go after. Do you think you're gonna outpace me little critter?!?
With that done, I wanted to settle down in my house for a little while and go to my computer to check out stuff online. Something caught my eye and apparently, there's a world championship opening up for people around the world to join. There will be multiple races across the globe and it's no doubt going to be a huge challenge.
And then I'm met with a difficult decision...

I don't know... Should I stay or should I go? It's been a while since I last drove behind the wheel and I've been chilling with my friends for the past few weeks now. But at the same time, I don't really want to leave them behind so suddenly. I should definitely think this through for a while...
After a few hours of thinking, I made up my mind and gathered all my friends in one place. I told them all the details of the championship and that I will be leaving Aurelia for who knows how long. I received different reactions after sharing the news.
Yoshi: "Everyone, there's this championship that's caught my attention and I want to take part in it. I had to make this decision that I personally find tough to make. I know I said this out of the blue, but it's much better if I told you all than to just leave without saying a word."
Sterling: "What?!? You're leaving so soon?!?"
Raymond: "Hey, at least you'll be able to perform on the world stage!"
Bea: "I'm worried for you. What if something bad happens? What if you crash straight into a wall?"
Patty: "Hehe, I guess I'll be a bit more lonely than usual."
Stitches: "Wow, you're gonna face people around the world?"
Gruff: "Well, just make it back in one piece, okay?"
Diva: "Do what's right for you, Yoshi!"
Carrie: "Yoshi, please don't get hurt pushing yourself too much!"
Rocco: "I don't know what this is all about, but something tells me that I'll miss him a lot."
Queenie: "Goodness me, you should take the opportunity, dear!"
Yoshi: "Yeah, I know. It's a little hard for some of you, and I hope you guys understand. But please don't worry as I'll be back again soon here in Aurelia. I'll also make sure to write a letter to each and every one of you whenever I can between races. Considering how this championship attracts people from all around the world both drivers and spectators alike, there may be a good chance that the races could be televised."
And literally moments later, everyone just poured out their support toward me and it's given me a huge boost of motivation.
Diva: "Well then, just send it, Yoshi!"
Sterling: "Yes, just go! I'll be screaming at the top of my lungs cheering for you!"
Stitches: "Televised or not, I will be rooting for you, Yoshi! We'll eat lots of yummy sweets once you come back!"
Patty: "Honestly, I wanna come with you, but I want to keep everyone company here in Aurelia. You have my support, Yoshi!"
Carrie: "If the races are going to be televised, I'll make sure to watch all of them. I'm cheering you on!"
Raymond: "Even if you just show up to the races, you'll put Aurelia on the map for representing us all! Give it your all, Yoshi!"
Rocco: "Haha, perhaps I should sing our island's town tune every time you win a race and perhaps even the championship!"
Gruff: "You can do this, Yoshi. I believe in you!"
Bea: "Yoshi, I'll make sure to make the yummiest blueberry pie when you come back, regardless of how you do!"
Queenie: "Show them who's boss, dear! All of us will be cheering for you!"
Yoshi: "Thank you, everyone. I'll do my best!"
And so I went back to my house to get changed. But before I did, I went onto TBT to check up with Taylor (@/xSuperMario64x), Riley (@/Childe), and @/Roxxy for a bit to see how they're doing and letting them know that I'll be busy racing for a while. I appreciate my friends so much despite living far away from each other.
And I have changed back into my racing gear once again.
I wanted to make another pit stop at Brewster's for another cup of coffee as I wouldn't get another opportunity to have one for a little while.
Before boarding the airport, I wanted to gaze at the moon to put my mind at ease.
Well then, I'm boarding the plane now to travel across the world and compete in races.
