I am getting new horizons in 6 days after playing new leaf since 2014 and I am really excited to play it and to see all the improvements compared to new leaf.

The only negative thing I noticed in nl was that the villager personalities are a bit bland compared to older games such as Wild world where the villagers could actually be quite rude.

You guys that recently got this game today would you say that the villager personalities have improved compared to the older games?

I would say see for yourself to develop your opinion but.. in my opinion... not really. Then again, I can't truly judge just yet because it's only the first few days in (I time traveled lol).

A lot more dialogue options already on the first day, I haven't gotten repeat dialogue yet and it's only the first day for me. I'd say yeah.
Not nearly as bland.

I agree that it's too soon to tell. It doesn't feel repetitive yet... but seeing as it's day 1, I only have 2 villagers to talk to.

It seems hard to tell this early, since they kinda seem to still be on "story/tutorial" mode for me.

One thing I noticed and I'm not sure if this was in New Leaf.....but when I was wearing the hat Flip gave me he actually pointed out that I was wearing the hat he had given me.

I'm also only on day one, but it does already feel like they have more personality to them and there is less repetitive dialogue for sure. It's also more personal - commenting with their personalities on you if you're stuck, commenting on clothes, etc. They have even said things about me talking to them a lot but still each time was new dialogue.

I’m already a lot more impressed with the writing and personalities in this game, not just villager wise but with the NPCs too! obviously we’ve just seen two personalities so far but things are looking promising imo!

Seems better than New Leaf's. I have seen a little repetition (mostly if they're doing something like fishing), but general dialogue is very good. It helps that they actually do more things around the island to keep things interesting. c:

So far, better than New Leaf. But it’s too early to tell since we all just started playing and probably hearing those things they’re saying for the first time.

Better for sure! I was told by my jock villager that he wasn't a huge fan of my rain jacket -- that's probably the first borderline mean thing I've seen a villager say since Wild World.

I got told the same thing with my embroidered tank (which is a feminine shirt and I’m a guy) and I was like oh wow homophobia.

My sister has Teddy in her town and he was like EWW when he was reacting to her face being stung by wasps.

I don't know, to me they seem just as boring as in new leaf. And the fact that im stuck only with 2 so far, makes it worse. lol

It's the second day's morning for me, and they don't seem boring. I only have 2 villagers right now, but I have 2 amiibo cards ready to be scanned in as soon as I gain the ability. One of them even noticed I was wearing the hat they gave me!

I find them less sarcastic or maybe its just because the ones I've encountered haven't been awful.

i still have only two villagers so i talk to them a lot and sometimes they get bored of me or repeat stuff. it's also still kinda in a tutorial mode. maybe it'll be better in a few days

I've been honestly surprised by some of the dialogue.
Hamlet turned to Rockets house when it was behind him and asked if I had gone inside yet at all; so I am VERY curious to see how the dialogue develops as more gets added onto my island.
I have also had some cute interactions inside of the museum c:

The only repetitive dialogue I've seen is when they are doing something like fishing.

They seem to notice items that you have placed outside as well.

Flip my jock villager mentioned how he liked having a Tiki Torch on his jogging route. (I don't know if that's dialogue specific to the tiki torch though or if he'll just say that about any item he's nearby)

I think he also said something about some kind of workout he used it for but I can't remember.
