Your unusual pets?!

I live in a small rural Township and they banned the ownership of a lot of exotic types of pets. Venomous snakes and spiders, Can't have scorpions. You cannot own any type of constrictor snakes. I know for a fact that if I ever wanted a hippo I cannot have one where I live. I mean seriously... Some of the animals on the list were far fetched but yeah. I am going to see if I can find that paper somewhere. I think there was an incident involving the escape of a large snake or something. I mean I can understand it but I was sad to have to sell my tarantula. I had it for about 2 years. I was looking into getting a Mexican Red Knee when they sent out the notice banning ownership.

Here is a picture of Chilean Rose Hair

Daaaahhh they're so furry :c that's silly, just one incident now they're all banned?

I haven't got an unusual pet yet but I recently got this flat and they allow pets so once all of us are settled in that's what I'll be getting. :)

Atually, I'm back here.
I never considered them as my "pets" because they don't live long, which is why I didn't think about posting them here,
but I breed Bombyx Mori moths.
Just took some pictures of this year's silkworms that are HUUUUGE, so I thought I'd share:

Bombyx Mori
(this one was mine, the only one I got attached to. It's name was Puppet and it was the one that made me decide to breed hahaha).

Oh wow. Love it ~

Thanks Sumia! They are fascinating little animals.
As moths, they canot fly, hence why I could take one on my finger. They just walk around.
Sadly they die after they have mated once (for females after they have laid eggs).
Puppet belonged to my mom's breeding group (she is a primary school teacher and breeds them to teach her class).
When they cannot mate they live about 2 weeks, so Puppet was with me for that time haha. :)

I got strangely attached to him (porbably a male) and so I started breeding them myself as a hobby.
I have to keep the eggs refrigirated in winter because the leaves they eat are not available, and in spring I set up their environment and breed for the season until I collect eggs and refrigirate them again for the next season.

I love to see them evolve and transform, and feel ridiculously proud when they look healthy and fat like this year, hahaha!
This year is also the first time I have had stripped silkworms. I have yet to understand the difference between the stripped and spotted ones, and very little about the Bombyx Mori can be found online, apart information on their mass breeding for silk in China.

Oh they're so pretty! Sad that they don't get to live long :/

I have a pet goat! His name is Trigger. He is crazy, always thinking about food and loves to try and escape his pen, which he did on Monday!

I also have 11 chickens and 5 ducks!

I also keep freshwater shrimp, which are pretty cool and I have an assassin snail too (he is called #47 for those of you who get the reference!)

I've just gotten rid of my 90 gallon salt water tank. Had clownfish, shrimp, hermit crabs, etc in it. I loved it, but it was such a hassle! Huge money pit. Now here's my list of pets I wanna get (not getting them all, but I want one of them): ferrets, rats, hermit crabs, a snake. Can't decide! Leaning less towards hermit crabs though

I know a friend who has had all type of crazy animals: sharks, rays, lizards, crabs, parrots, turtles, etc.

I have two African Dwarf Frogs named Istanbul and Constantinople. They aren't terribly exotic, but I certainly do not meet a lot of people that own them. I myself am new to owning them. I got them because my betta fish died and I wanted to try something new. I did research and learned that getting at least 2 was standard because they are social creatures.

Around 12:30 - 1 AM they start to sing to each other. It's neat.

I also am a keeper of carnivorous plants. They aren't animals, but they are exotic. Right now I have 5. :D

Does a Roborovski hamster count as an unusual pet? Also, my brother has hermit crabs and I hold them sometimes XD

Well you already had hermits so you could go for something else! Just an idea ^^

I used to have two frogs and two hamsters, and my family has raised butterflies almost every year. I also used to have a lizard.
