Quoting limited to 4 levels deep
Rap does have a tune, but a very terrible one. It goes like... BOOM BOOM BOOM. Along with lyrics about drugs and money.
Did you look at what I said before? Stop being sterotypical because rap music has some amazing beats and some artists like J.Cole, Eminem, Ace Hood etc have some good songs about their lives, Nothing about money or drugs. It's your opinion and all but I hate people saying that rappers are all like Lil Wayne, You've probably never listened to more than 5+ rap songs in your life.
Lol calm down.
Lol, I'm not raging, just trying to say the truth. :P but seriously yeah rap isn't terrible,it's the artists.

I don't like it because it just has beats, no melody.

Well, you are right about one thing... I only listened about 10-15 rap songs, rest were just about 20 seconds. I had a neighbor that turned up the volume REALLY HIGH, which was rap. All I heard was BOOM BOOM BOOM. It's hard to concentrate on rap's beep, because a 4 minute rap song has about 3 minutes and 40 seconds of non-stop lyrics.

Whatever fits the emotion and situation generally.

I'll listen to anything if I'm doing nothing really.

I don't consider rap to be music, but I don't mean that in a demeaning way. To me, music must have a) rhythm, b) melody, and c) harmony. Rap always has a, and sometimes c. Rarely does it have b. I've never heard a rap song that has all 3.

Rap is more accurately "glorified poetry". Which, again, isn't a bad thing...
Theres plenty of music without harmony.
All old Irish singing used to be done unaccompanied.

@topic: don't really have a favourite genre, but most music I listen to is rock.
If we're talking solo voice, there is always implied harmony (two or three notes in a row that imply a chord).

Listen to Overtime - Ace Hood, Beautiful - Eminem or Who Dat - J. cole, Maybe even some Tupac. Also when music is loud from your neighbours, It always goes boom. You need to listen to some good rap. Anyway, It looks like i'm forcing you to change your opinion, But I'm trying to get it all right.

in the argument against rap being neighbors blasting it, i've had mexican music blasted nearby and redneck as *censored.3.0* music blasted.

deal w/it, or do something about it.

i don't speak spanish, so i can't really enjoy that, and i hate country for the most part.
when driving around, i hate having any kind of music in neighboring cars blasting, much less with bass so loud it hurts your ears. why they do it, no clue other than to troll.

And some rap music has all three of the things you listed, listen to nicki minaj, for example.

But youve been studying music longer than i have.
I do think that it's unfair to write off rap completely however,, I don't really like it, personally, but sometimes a rap verse in the middle of a song can work quite well.

Mexican music is funny if you don't understand Spanish.

Not trying to be racist or anything, it's the melody and tune that's funny.

But if it makes sense to you, it's not funny anymore, unless the lyrics are funny.

I see very little humour in the melody of mexican music.

A rap verse in the middle of the song is different than a rap song. But I do prefer songs with rapping in them over just rap songs.

Yes, but that verse itself is 'rap music' is you get me??

It usually has the backing of the original song as well, so that helps.

Okay, the words make it funny.

And I don't even understand Spanish.

Me either.
Still not seeing the source of amusement.
