Hate the artists sure but it's the Genre itself that you should be liking. Artists like J. Cole and Eminem rap about things that go on in their life, their lyrics actually make sense. Lil Wayne, Kanye and Drake are the ones who talk about Money, drugs, sex etc but they're still successful. It's the stereotypes that give rap a bad name ;(
I don't like Rap because there is no melody or tune.

Good music has a catchy tune.
Rap does have a tune, but a very terrible one. It goes like... BOOM BOOM BOOM. Along with lyrics about drugs and money.

Uhh, most definitely not. What kind of jazz are you listening to?
One's with no lyrics. Well I did when I danced. I gave up on that a few years ago, but I still enjoy dancing to it.

That's a very narrow subset of jazz. Generalizing all jazz as "only good to dance to" is to ignore a ton of music.

To stop this. It's my opinion. I'm not forcing anyone to agree with me.

This thread is asking for other people's opinions. I'm merely stating my own and pointing out that you're wrong in your assumption about jazz.

Edit - Which, you know, isn't an opinion. It's a fact. There's plenty of jazz that can't be danced to, lol.

And Bul ends the argument with Jake's embarrassment.

Go Bul.

Did you look at what I said before? Stop being sterotypical because rap music has some amazing beats and some artists like J.Cole, Eminem, Ace Hood etc have some good songs about their lives, Nothing about money or drugs. It's your opinion and all but I hate people saying that rappers are all like Lil Wayne, You've probably never listened to more than 5+ rap songs in your life.

I don't consider rap to be music, but I don't mean that in a demeaning way. To me, music must have a) rhythm, b) melody, and c) harmony. Rap always has a, and sometimes c. Rarely does it have b. I've never heard a rap song that has all 3.

Rap is more accurately "glorified poetry". Which, again, isn't a bad thing...

Well rap is poetry, But it can go down in the Genre Hip Hop. Rap isn't the same as it was years ago, But there's still some really good rap artist who can actually rap. It's the stereotypes that really bug me like I said before, It's just like saying all fat people like food or all black people like fried chicken.

Theres plenty of music without harmony.
All old Irish singing used to be done unaccompanied.

@topic: don't really have a favourite genre, but most music I listen to is rock.
