the sole point of praise I will give the travesty that was the 2003 anime is that it's success allowed the manga's plot to be adapted

ps FMA is probably my favorite standard shonen manga. it pretty much does everything perfectly imo and is basically what I measure other action shonen manga against

so in a way 2003 and Brotherhood are like polar opposites for me

Madoka and Titan are the only good ones on that list, but there are a ton off the list that are actually good anime. Texhnolyze, Lain, NGE, Bebop, GitS, Paranoia Agent, Mushi-shi, etc.

I like some in that list but they're not exactly my favorites. It would be FMA: Brotherhood (I like the manga better), Macross Frontier (The movies are waaay better though), Neon Genesis Evangelion, Daily Lives of High School Boys, Honey & Clover, and definitely Hunter x Hunter.
