Your Current Layout - How many times did you reset and what were your criterias?

I never reset, but I did scroll through the options a good 2 or 3 times to look at them all, finally picking the one I liked.

I already had an idea of what I wanted when I started my town. It took many resets to get it but it was all worth it.

Things I wanted:

-Horizontal river.

-Re-tail up top by the station.

-Triangle grass(preferable) or circle.

-Nice spot to put my campsite.

-I like ponds so 2-4 ponds.

-Two separate beaches.

-Town plaza must be in the center.

-Town hall on the upper half of the map.

-I would've liked apples as native fruits but I got oranges which is nice too.

Then I got this:

I ended up with square grass though which is my least favorite and I was about to reset because of that but it wasn't worth it. So happy I didn't reset.

And it's very similar to my old map.

I haven't reset my map. Actually, when I started up the game, I didn't know anything about it and had no idea what I was doing, so when Rover asked if that was the town map, I was just thinking, "Sure," and just said yes to the first map, not even knowing there were other options, haha. That probably sounds really dumb to you guys! It's not perfect, but I do like that my re-tail and town hall are along the top fence, so that I have a main strip of buildings (with the cafe and police station along the top, too). And, I have peaches, which are my favorite, and got the blue town hall, my fave color. So I guess I got pretty lucky with those. If I were to start a new town, I'm sure I'd try resetting, though.

I lost count of how many times I reaet, I reset all day and into a the next morning before I was truly satisfied, I did trial a few towns though, I was moving so as soon as I chose a spot my whole house just popped up there and I could see what I thought. A few towns I almost kept just because they had a villager I liked but that was one of my deal breakers...

Must have:
-Peaches as fruit
-large open spaces in the north half of the map for PWPs
-retail/town hall/plaza in convinient paces where I would go past them often but would not be in the way
-south facing waterfall
-NO villagers I like (because I planned on moving them in from my old town and plot resetting them)
-right angles between all key places to run my paths (natural dirt)
Also wanted:
-brown/black or green station/town hall
-Ponds out of the way
-rocks out of the way
Then, on the second morning of resetting I found a river layout I loved and decided I would only accept that river layout, and it wasn't one of the common ones! It took me a while but I found my perfect map:

Complete with peaches and the right town hall/station colours. At first I wasn't sure about the plaza/retail position but now I love them!!

I reset when I started my second town and it took me around 2-3 days to find a perfect map.

I wanted:
Peaches, apples or cherries (I got apples which I now see as perfect as it relates to something in my theme)
Retail near the ramp to the beach
The plaza opposite the Mayor's office
Only one lake
Large open space for pwp's

Other things I love about my map that weren't must haves:
Long beach
Private beach
South facing waterfall

One thing that is slightly annoying is the lake next to Re-tail. It makes the area between the shop and the river even smaller, but in game it's not much of a problem as I have a path to the right of it leading up to the plaza.

Ive reset a few times to try to find a good layout. The main criteria that i have is i just dont like a super spiraly or weird river. I like it to be as straight as possible if that makes sense. I also like the tree/town square to as close to the center of the town as possible. I just think that that looks best!

Well I have lost count of how many times I have rest but easily over 200 times!

Here is my map <3

I wanted apples but I got cherries! I don't care tho, I like
perfect cherries better! I have a few ponds but some annoying
rocks in a few bad places but I can easily work around them.
I have lots of room up north (which is what I wanted!) I
place to line up my villagers and player homes (in the south)
and plenty of landscaping space!

This should be my forever town, I honestly don't
think I will be resetting it...like ever!

Alright so after my previous file was corrupted, I was forced to reset. I was kinda devastated because I had Stitches in that town but everything's okay now! My criteria were:
-peaches
-circle grass (for stars in winter!)
-plaza in the center
-one continuous beach
-only 1 lake

I probably reset like 50 times to get this really cute u-with-arms shaped river with the plaza smack dab in the center. It's gorgeous. ;u;

I just picked the first map Rover showed me that didn't have inaccessible parts of the beach. Kind of regret it now.

For the main town, I wanted Re-tail super close to the train tracks/train and a good secluded place to put my home. They rest, I didn't care for at all.

When I started my Main town 2,5 years ago I didn't know anything and I just took one from the five cards at the beginning. When I started my cycling town I wanted a straight river, the town tree on the upper side of the river and yeah.
In my cycling/2. town I'm having the same fruit as in my main town and the grass pattern is also the same.

I reset the first times because I was unhappy with my face and I didn't know there were 4 maps too choose from, but now I'm pretty happy with my town. I do wish that my native fruit was apples but oh well.

I reset 1 time to get the town layout I wanted.

Looking back I wish I had reset again, before going to deep into this town because I really wish my character had the catish eyes.:(

I actually got my layout this time on the first try. And that is crazy because I'm super OCD about fruit, grass, etc.

When I was super into ACNL and was in a resetting frenzy, these were what I wanted:

- Town fruit: Peaches or Apples
- River facing forward (able to to the waterfall)
- 1 pond only
- At least 1 good villager
- Retail, town hall, and town plaza in the same side

When I got back into Animal Crossing last month, it took me 1 try to get a really decent map. I didn't get really good villagers, but I decided to stick with it. I decided to play it like if I never played this game before.

Ok you have to hear the back story. When me and the kids found out that acnl was coming out (almost a year before it released) we waited patiently until my bday (March 2013) and went and preordered 4 copies. (My youngest wasn't old enough yet, so we got him luigi's mansion). THEN when it came out, I went and picked up our copies and sat on them for a WEEK!!! Why would I do this you ask??? Well we were about to go on vacation and we were driving. I figured a brand new game that we've been waiting on for almost a year (with new headphones for everyone) would be a GREAT way to spend 10&1/2 hours in the car. At 5 am I threw them all back their copies and we got started. It was the easiest trip in the car we ever went on :)

Now back to the actual question: I was just so excited that I looked through the first 4 maps and then picked one. Then after getting to the town, I realized i put my name in all caps and knew I'd never be able to live with that, so I restarted. I still picked from the first 4. I luv luv luv my map layout to this day. I got really lucky and got cherries. My favs! AND only one pond. Truly I only have 2 unfortunate rocks.

I don't really have a criteria any more. All I really wanted was a map that looks somewhat spacious when I explore it. The top half has enough space for PWPs whereas the bottom half is just a small strip of land where I can put villagers. I just go with whatever looks good really. What I didn't want though, was a strip of land that's only easily accessible if you put a bridge down going towards it. It's kinda hard to explain but one of those strips that only have room for about one PWP since that's all the strip really has room for. I don't really care about my fruit any more though. I used to have a preference of apples and peaches only because of how they look when they're perfect, but now I don't really mind. I have pears but i'm gradually replacing them with cherries, apples and peaches. I don't have a preference on type of grass or train station that honestly doesn't matter to me. Or whenever the strip of land leading down to the beach is horizontal or vertical. I don't care about having a villager I like neither, because often when I get villagers I do like as starters they are in horrible places. So If I don't have them n town it gives me an option to plot reset them to where I do want them.
