Young spring bamboo?

What is it and where can I get it? I've only gotten regular bamboo and I noticed today one of the recipes I want to make requires this mat

you get them from chopping bamboo plants, just like regular bamboo!

It is a random drop from chopping bamboo trees during springtime! I believe the peak drop period is April (Northern Hem), as that is when I harvested the most.

Hello

Use stone ax to hit the bamboo trees and you should get spring bamboo pieces.

bamboo in new horizons has a nerfed seed rate as compared to new leaf. aka. bamboo only produces one (maybe two?) seeds after planting, EVER as far as everyone's experience has shown. thus far, the only other way to reliably collect bamboo seeds is by mystery island tour or buying turnips from daisy mae

also op, i have been getting young spring bamboo in the middle of may, so ! just luck i think. stay on the axe
