You can't buy villager's fish/insects or anything that's on a table. Seriously, It makes their house look worse the more fish they got in their houses.

I completely agree. And then when I'm like "Your house is meh." They are talking about working on it and I'm like "SDHIHAFDSJKBJFDADS"

Yes. I hate this as well, i'm trying my hands on originality and its not easy to do.

I just keep giving them things of the same size, hoping they will replace them. They do eventually, but it takes FOREVER.

I know this is late, but...

I agree. It really stinks! In the beginning I didn't mind but now that I've got their houses all under a certain theme it bugs me to see just an insect or a fish randomly placed in the middle of their room.

This is why I never catch them fish or bugs anymore, and filled up my re-tail with a bunch of flowers for 99999 so they can't buy or sell anything. I do miss seeing random things I want in re-tail but some of my villagers I want their houses to be more or less original and not filled with fish and junk

If they ask for any type of fish/river fish I try to at least get them one that could serve as a pet (surgeonfish, goldfish ect.). Though I absolutely hate when they ask for my rare/large fish in trades. No, Marshal. I do NOT want to trade my Oarfish for your Dreamy Cloud Tee.

I feel like you shouldn't be able to sell fish to other players, as they may fill their handbook really fast. Tho mailing it to NPCs should be ok.

Yes, I never do bug or fish requests. And my retail is full of flowers that are marked really high.

I want my villagers homes to have a certain theme so it's a no-no for me to give them anything except stuff they wont put out. While I was making some edits to their homes I messed up a couple of times and it took forever for them to replace the mess.

I agree. When my villagers ask me for fish or bugs I always say no unless it's one that would actually work as a pet of some kind if they don't have any. It's annoying that otherwise I always have to say yes and then not do anything for them just because you can't buy them back.

tell me about it. this is why I don't catch fish or bugs for me. as bad as I feel for making me that sad face I ain't going to ruin their house and make it look ugly.

Think about it though, how would you send a fish in the mail? It'd just die while it was being processed, stuck in some white box with a red ribbon tied around it, and if you were to somehow put in water...I don't know. I just don't see the logic in that. Then again, you can shove an alpine sofa down your pants.

Edit: Gyroids also fall under this category. Every time you enter a villagers house you hear that same dang noise looping and looping all over again and it's an earsore.

The only time this really bothered me is web I gave an octopus to zucker and he had it in his house for a while. It was creepy.

But you're losing out on potentially Sloppy furniture showing up.

There is a way though to get their fish/bugs from them. Takes a bit of work though. First, it can't be something they started with- like Quillson has a fish from the day he moves in. He'll never let that go, it's a "permanent furniture piece". However, what you give them, at some point while they're in your town, they may ask you to find something to replace it. ALWAYS go with furniture you can put on top- reason, good chance it's going to show up in Re-Tail at some point. However, don't give it to them outside, either open your gate to try to get them in their house, or save and quit, and restart until they're in their house. Once inside, you give them the replacement thing, and they'll give you the fish/bug you're replacing. It's a sneaky way you can get it with another character who's never caught that bug/fish- I have a second character who doesn't even have a net with a bug in his house, because he replaced it with another furniture piece. Too bad the encyclopedia only unlocks it after you catch it, I was hoping just having it would have. Hope this helps in the future for getting their fish/bugs out of their houses.
