I always choose my own gender first and the next character is the opposite, and so on and so forth. I almost always end up with an even ratio of genders.

I'm a girl, playing as a girl. (unless you don't believe me, in that case, i'm a man) but I do plan to make a cute boy character for my town, and use it as a mule for storage and paths cx

I'm a girl and I also have a lady character. I have the bottom eyelashes character (guys can have it too) and I'd like to try a guy hairstyle when I unlock the other gender's styles. Maybe the undercut..?

I'm a girl. I play as a girl.

However I lived as a boy for many years - but even then I would play as a girl. :p

I'm playing as a girl and I'm a girl, but my character is pretty androgynous. I played as a guy in some of my City Folk towns tho. And my 2nd character is a guy who I named Blumiere, hehe. (I still curse the game for not having a white top hat with a blue stripe, but that's getting a little specific, haha)

I'm a girl playing as a girl but I'm planning on making a guy character just to store some more designs.

I'm a guy and I find it strange to play the opposite gender in video games, well at least in MMORPGs and games like AC and Pok?mon. (Basicly games where you can choose gender)

I don't see why some people are so worried about people choosing their biological gender.. It's a game after all. it's not like you're going "CHANGE MY PART!" Like really? If you're that insecure of your own gender that playing an opposite one in a game threatens you and your "masculinity" for example .... I'd try to work on security a bit more. Just my thoughts. I'm not saying you said that.. but the context is still there.

First game girl playing as girl and made 3 other characters all girls. My son bought me a US game for my US 3DS. I am about to start that game as boy.

Sure is great to see that I'm not the only one playing as an opposite gender to myself. :) (That's not the only thing this poll tells me: There sure are a lot of girl users here. :p)

Boy playing as a girl here. Because... I think playing as the AC girl would be cute and I'd love to see my girl O.C. as mayor, sooooo... :P

Though by doing this, I've caused confusion to people I played with in City Folk / Let's Go To The City. Heck, I think there was one player that's trying to hit on me.
Crap like that tells me that I should make a male character for storage and multiplayer purposes, but part of me doesn't. I'll just waste more of my time with the game, as I'll force myself bang the rock, catalog everytime item I get with my main girl character, and trying to get all badges, bugs, fishes, and sea creatures.
Maybe later down the road... (Still need to think of his name and where to place his house anyway. :P)

Side note: I played as the same gender as I am in the first game on the GameCube, then played as the opposite from here on out, starting with City Folk, then Wild World (played that for a short while), and now New Leaf.

I have characters of both genders. But I'm female and my mayor (main) is a guy. The last few games I picked female characters, so I picked a guy as my main this time for something different.

That's why I used guy characters 99% of the time back when I played Rock Band online. Some people automatically assumed I wasn't good at the game or only wanted to sing female songs or would hit on me when I was a female character. But when they saw a guy character, they didn't.

This is also why I tend to pick male or gender ambiguous names online.

My mayor, Rose . . .sort of me, is a girl and so am I.
But I have 3 other characters in my town,
Suki, female--restaurateur, geisha/actress wannabe
Larch, Male--engineer, path builder, house by lighthouse
Nobu, Male--farmer, fisherman

I'm a boy and I play as a boy. However, in other games I more or less play as girls. In Pokemon I prefer playing as the girl character rather than the boy because frankly, I think all of the female sprites look much better than the boys. (Excluding the first gen female) In super smash bros I always play as zelda, in all Naruto games I'll always pick a female character over a male character, in left4dead I prefer being the female survivor as well. Don't get the wrong idea; "he's a pervert because he plays as female characters", I'm not. I play as female characters because they just appeal to me more than make character do. Most female characters in fighting games are fast, easy to use and visually superior over male characters. (Superior in a way that attracts attention, not strength or anything.) so that's why.

That's not what I meant I care so little about my masculinity.

Girl playing as a girl, but I'll make a boy character once villagers move out of where I want the house.

I play as my own gender, female. I've had male characters in all AC games, but they were never my main... Well, aside from one of my GCN towns. But that was a one-time thing... lol. I feel more comfortable playing my own gender, so I always do so when given the option in a game (aside from games like SSB, of course).
