remember when you'd talk to one of your villagers & then they'd tell you that someone was sick & that you should go visit them when you got the chance?
and how you get to give them medicine so that they can get better soon!
and then they'd send you a letter when they got better saying how much they appreciated you being there for them when they really needed you

that was very sweet & i honestly have no idea why the heck nintendo would remove that
or maybe it's still in the game but i don't play enough of it

I remember back in my old town they used to get sick all the time. Now with Welcome Amiibo, I honestly haven't seen a single case yet. In fact I only remembered it because you made a thread about it.

Honestly I have no idea why they removed it (or made it so rare that it might as well be). Being sick is a normal part of life, and I enjoyed seeing them get better.

I've never experienced a sick villager and I've been playing every day since October 2017. I knew that taking care of sick villagers was a feature of the game because I had seen it in a Let's Play. I was looking forward to caring for my villagers, but since I started playing after the Welcome Amiibo update, I never had the opportunity. I wish it was still a part of the game because I think it sounds cute. Not that I want my villagers to suffer, but nursing them back to health would be nice and it would provide additional dialog, which is an area where I feel this game is kind of lacking.

Idk why they took that feature out :< I enjoyed tending to my sick villagers. I don’t even use the medicine for bee stings since my villagers always give me medicine anyways.

exactly! i remember buying a bunch of medicine just in case anyone got sick & i would always check up on them & give them more whenever i could because they were ALWAYS randomly getting sick.

also i havent seen much ufo talk either?? or maybe thats because of just the villagers in my town atm?
it was rare but it would pop up here & there

awh that sucks! :'(
my first sick villager was poppy & it made me so SAD to see her so down when she's always happy & cheerful!
they just stay in the house all day & walk around groggy with their head down
there wasn't much to it BUT it was very memorable & the nursing them back to health thing is what made it worth it tbh.

OH
DO THEY STILL GIVE YOU MEDICINE FOR THAT?
i got a bee sting a couple of times & i tried to some of my villagers & they gave me nothing so i thought they took that out too? idk

When I started my first town with the Welcome Amiibo update I remember buying one or two medicine just in case me or my villagers would get sick or stung. But the medicine really just stayed in my closet FOREVER.
And I never actually payed attention to it until someone brought it up on the forums. Then I thought about it for a it and yeah I literally never saw a sick villager in the WA update! That makes me a bit sad because even if it's not that big of a feature I still think it's a cool thing because it added more interactions with the villagers in my opinion and that's all I'm about!
Also thank god they didn't removed the villagers giving you medicine for your bee accident, that was just so cute to be cut out.

Uchi with a high friendship gives it for sure! As soon as I get stung I run to my uchi every time to get the medicine haha! I think other personality types do give you medicine as well but maybe not every single time. I'm also not sure about when you get stung twice in one day.

oh my god....that would be so cute...STUNG VILLAGERS. just imagine you're doing your own thing & you go to talk to walker & then he turns around looking like THIS
jdkalkf.jpg
And you're totally right! Instead of taking it out they could've just made them less sick? Or added more dialog to make up for what they did? Idk. Honestly it would be really neat if I saw the villagers doing more of their own thing. You know what I mean? I mean they already fish & stuff but I want to talk into their house one day & see them on the sofa watching tv & they're like, "sit down & watch this neat cartoon with me!" Or something like they had in HHD.

OH so they do still do that. yes! wow! apparently my villagers just want me to die i guess!

bahaha I spat my coffee out. That's hilarious. Now I'm imagining that happening to Butch in my town :'D

so that's why! I have ZERO uchis because im all about that lazy life so they just call u fugly & move on with no prob. :')
i remember getting some from Sheldon or Sterling i think. that was in my first town & i used to talk to them the most because they made me happy as heck.
maybe you're right! maybe it is just the personality types because i know for sure that i spoil the hell out of walker & poppy.

OH NO BUTCH IS SUCH A TUFF LITTLE BABY OMg
he would look so angry but cute

Yeah I'm upset about this because I cant think of any logical reason why they'd remove this. Maybe when they were tinkering with the game to add more features, they accidentally took this out. It's such a subtle feature that maybe they didn't notice they took it out and by the time they noticed (if they even did...) they figured it isn't such a big deal and didn't go back to fix it. That is literally the only thing I could think about that makes sense. It's such a random feature to remove!! There is absolutely zero reasons for it to be taken out, even trying to see from a developer's point of view.... :(

I didn't even realize this feature was removed, but you're right. I had villagers get sick every so often pre-update. But post-update? Never. Not even once.

Lol, am I really the only one who hated villagers getting sick? I'm glad they got rid of it. I didn't like not really being able to interact with them except to give them medicine once a day.

I....somehow completely forgot about this feature until I read this post. Why did they take it away?? It was super cute when they got better after and were all happy.

It was removed??? That's strange. :o

And yeah, I played pre-update (amiibo) and they were getting sick all the time. It's definitely weird to remove it since it's a nice little moment which makes things more life-like. Hm, strange... maybe it's just a bug? (♠_♦)

I was literally just thinking about this.

I was checking on my villagers and some of them never come out of their house anymore, so I'm like... are they sick?

But they never are for some reason? Did they seriously remove that feature from the game? ;w;

I loved tending to my sick villagers ;o;

Ngl I'm glad they removed it, it was kinda annoying to care for them honestly and just somewhat waste when trying to TT and make villagers move etc.

I understand how it can be annoying to some people, but I kind of miss my villagers getting sick. I really enjoyed caring for them and I felt it made them appreciate me more as a friend and as a mayor.

I've only ever played after the WA update so I've never experienced this but it sounds so cute? :(((( i'd love to get a chance to take care of my villagers because they make me so happy? I wanna give back to them!!!!

I was curious, so I looked up why the sick villager feature was removed. Per the Animal Crossing wiki:

"In the Welcome amiibo update, villagers cannot get sick. This phase was removed due to a bug with the system which caused the villagers to move out without telling the player, as sickness interferes with pinging."

So I guess if I had to choose between taking care of a sick villager or potentially losing a villager I love because they didn't ping me, I'd rather not have sick villagers. It's still a shame that they couldn't find a way to fix the bug and had to remove the feature altogether, though.

Also, since you mentioned the UFO dialog, I see it all the time. In fact, Mint just pinged me and said it this morning. It only comes from snooty villagers, so maybe if you don't have many snooties, that's why you're not seeing it.
