Contest Writing Skillz!!! 1,000 tbt prize

So to start this off, if you have any questions then comment on the thread.

This year for my writing class I am having my students write either

Narrative Memoir Influenced by Southern Gothic Fiction
or
Southern Gothic Fiction Narrative Short Story​

Basically I want you to compete with other people and write whichever you want however there will be rules and I may share your work with my students as an example. There will be 2 WINNERS and the will receive 1,000 BTB\TBT. I encourage everyone to try as it isn't too hard to do.

This is something my students will have access to that may help you understand Southern Gothic Fiction.

Just if you aren't reading then I want you to know that this is for a 9th grade honors english so do your best. Plagiarism will not be accepted(trust me because I know). I may increase the amount of tbt the winner gets.
I expect a 12 point font in either Times New Roman or Calibri.

I might try this... I'm not familiar with common core so I would just do what I normally do for papers if that's ok. MLA format?

I read a lot of Southern Gothic literature so this may be right up my alley. I will write something, but no promises I will submit anything!

Yeah the Southern Gothic Fiction is basically racism and and dark gothic culture and stuff like that. It's supposed to tie in with To Kill a Mockingbird and how people acted towards african american people

Does it have to be related to racism? I've started writing mine and it revolves mainly around violence/loneliness and a few other things I won't spoil yet...
I did some research and a lot of websites said Southern Gothic usually has a lot to do with damaged/delusional characters, sometimes grotesque themes, just generally dark. Is that right? Because that's definitely what I've used to inspire mine.​
