I've been writing letters to get more of the fruits. I was wondering, what do other ppl say in their letters? Does anyone write the long, heart-felt letters that the villagers do or do you keep it short and sweet? Do you use words at all? I usually keep it short and sweet, but today I was writing to get fruits, got up in irl for a snack, some potato salad, and wrote a letter in ACNL saying, 'Here I sit, eating potato salad, as I write this letter, actually, more like a ballad.' LOL I picked 8 fruits earlier to send to the 8 villagers in town, said 'Hi' in one of them, the potato salad ballad in one(I wish you could copy and paste...) and giberish(jkjkjhse 1235697 ect.) in the others.

the only time i really wrote letters to villagers is when i spend a couple hours to get the golden Postmaster badge.

maybe i’ll try sending some to my villagers sometime today.

ahh
i dont really write letters to villagers that much anymore. (I should get more in the habit) I usually just say hi, that's about it

If I'm sending letters to a particular villager to raise their friendship, and I get an item in the mail from another villager that day, I'll say something like, "*insert villager name who sent me gift* wanted to give you this." I once heard a long time ago that they'll reply or send you a gift in return if you write one word on 4 lines, maybe you could try that method.

I've always written letters to villagers pretty often... I would usually send them furniture or clothing I'd want them to put in their houses or wear. As far as what I'd normally say, I'd usually keep it short and sweet but not just 'hi', usually "I saw this and thought of you today" or something along those lines.

I don't really write them very much anymore, but I remember as a kid I used to write to Kitty and Carmen all the time in Gamecube. They were my 2 favorite villagers back then and they're still some of my favorites today.

I used to write letters in the beginning but if there are badges for they must be heavily glitched because I never got them and I'm pretty sure I did bronze at least... So I kinda stopped unless I got very bored.

I write short things cuz the DS keyboard is annoying lol
I usually write hey babe how you doing take this

LOL I used to write passive aggressive letters when I first started to villagers that I hate.
things like " welcome to Atlantis, I just want your furniture, I'll kick you out after, bye."
or " welcome to Atlantis..youre not going to stay for that long, good bye " lmfao
now I just say " hi take this " if I wanted to give them something with the letter or not even send one at all haha

I write one letter that I know they will show me for the rest of eternity, so I make it something that will give me a chuckle.

To Shep, I wrote..

Yo, Shep.

Here's a veggie basket for you.
DON'T throw it out..
You meat-eating HEATHEN!
Give PEAS a chance!

Commander Jon Snow.

^_^

omfg but remember in GameCube how your letter had to be almost college essay level perfect and if you didn't write something that made sense they would get pissed

For me... I don't really write much letters to my villagers. When I do write them letters then I just put "Hi" and send it to the post office. I'm not really into writing letters to villagers. If these were letters to other players then I would be more inclined to write letters.

When I was doing the Postmaster Badge, I would write actual letters to them after a while, because I got tired of writing essentially the same thing over and over. I'd talk about my day, or about what I was doing at the moment. Then I started sending them song lyrics. And one of my villager replied that she knew "what my fandom was now" and I was like wow that's an amazing coincidence. After I got my Postmaster badge, I basically write them one letter when they move in, that basically says thank you for moving in and if you need any help just ask, so that when they show everyone it's not like total garbage.

And then occasionally when I want to mail them items like shirts to put on or furniture to display, I'll write something like:
Dear Cherry,
Cherry! You better put this jacket back on! I know it's getting warmer out, but that's no excuse for that ugly thing you're wearing you call a shirt.

Love, Raven

I never really write to my villagers.... I really like being written to though so I probably should write to my villagers more.

When I do, I always attach a gift that I know they'd like (using a guide) and I usually keep it short and sweet, basically wishing them well and saying that I hope they like the gift.

I learned on here (forgot who the user was but credit goes to them), but they said that there are keywords that villagers respond positively to, that being "friend" and "present"

so

Dear (Villager),

Friend
Friend
Present
Friend

Sincerely, Bambie.

That worked in WW.

It did nothing for me in NL. :(

It was a so-so reaction for me

I had the nicer villagers (usually lazies and normals) respond with a positive reaction -- sometimes a cranky if I was on a high friendship level with them

but the ones I wasn't that close to didn't really say anything back/didn't give me a present.

To get different fruit from letters:

- send seashells!!!
- If you send native fruit they will usually send clothes or furniture. Send shells!
- keep it short.
- New Leaf has advanced letter comprehension.
- One sentence should have them give fruit or shirts, longer letters give furniture.

Getting non native fruit is one of my big goals in every AC game. I have achieved all non native fruit via letters in all AC games. It’s a lot of work sometimes. They always want to give you clothes and furniture- I just want fruit!

I’m working on my letter badge but I have read that you need at least 2 sentences to get the letter badge.

Wishing you the best in your quest!

I usually write a nice letter to welcome any new villagers. Sometimes I just write "I saw this and thought of you" or tell them they're my favorite villager. Sometimes I say mean things because it's funny to get a letter back thanking me for my heartfelt letter. I remember in the Gamecube one you had to send your fossils in a letter to get them analyzed and I thought it had to be proper so I sent " hello, I found this fossil in my town, could you please identify it?" or something along those lines. I then found out you could write nonsense and they still got analyzed so I quickly stopped being formal haha.

I don't, but I found the most effective way to get them to change their outfits is to send 3-5 letters that say "Thanks Thanks Thanks Thanks Friend" on separate lines!
