Assuming we get Animal Crossing for switch, if there was an option to move from your New leaf town would you do it?

For those that aren't aware, City Folk gave the same option for Wild World. You kept all of your catalogue and fish/bugs caught and you look the exact same. (You obviously wouldn't be able to bring any money, gold tools, or order any non sellable furniture like fossils etc.) Your museum would also still be empty and you would still start out with a fresh town.

Me personally, I wouldn't do it. The joy in new animal crossing games is starting over with a fresh life, or rather, turning over a new leaf :)

I would start with a wholly new character. I've put a lot of time and effort into making my New Leaf towns to my specifications and spent a good amount of TBT bells on specific villagers to match the town themes. I wouldn't throw that all away. I already intend to try to acquire the excess dream villagers I couldn't fit into my New Leaf towns because of the towns' themes in the Switch game.

No.

The Switch AC will probably have too much internet interaction for me, so I'll be sticking with NL until it dies.

I'm positive it will all be optional, just like ever other online feature in animal crossing games. :)

I would start a new file! I'm content leaving my old town back on the 3DS, I feel that's where they belong.. even if this option existed.
Besides, nobody will know how to control the town as much as NL (yet) on release.

Start over. I want to make another town not just continue even if there's some option (doubt it will since it's a whole new system) but yeah, that's how I am with my games. Start over if it's something new so I could fully experience everything :)

Start over, would definitely prefer a whole new start to explore the game. :)

Considering how Nintendo is cutting down on internet interaction, aka CT aka inability to get info on CT, I doubt the Switch will be any different from other games.

That aside, I've been thinking about a Switch version and I would start over. I also already have a town name :p

Cutting down?
It's increasing!

Look at that mobile game I refuse to acknowledge, with it's constant online activities, and microtransactions.

I personally would prefer to trade with people to fill my catalog and get bugs on my own(that new encyclopedia text is oddly nice) ^_^ It's such a lovely feeling to start fresh and get what I'd want from others in exchange for what they'd want!

On a side note, Jon- why do you seem so against Animal Crossing's internet interaction and Pocket Camp? The mobile game I get- Animal Crossing just doesn't feel right as a mobile game. The internet I don't understand. ^_^

If there is any link with our acnl game and a Switch ac game I think it would be similar to the link between acww and accf - ie you could bring over a character plus its catalog but no money. Patterns - not sure, not possible if they change the technical details.
Edit: I can't remember keeping my fish/bug catalog, thought that had to be caught all over again?

So I would guess it would just be the characters looks & catalog.
Would I do it - probably yes, I did from acww to accf.

Acnl is a very internet connected game - I loved streetpass, dream towns & to a lesser extent CT islands.
I loved getting stranger streetpasses in acnl, their houses in HHA plaza gave me access to a lot of items I didn't have. This and DLC was exciting - I loved it.

I would hope that similar would be in a Switch ac game - albeit currently the Switch does not have streetpass capability?

I would love to bring my current town into the nintendo switch because I have invested so much time into it! Nothing better than continuing an on going adventure :)

If by a miracle I ever have enough money to buy a switch with animal crossing, I would definitely just start over! I would want to experience everything on the switch, and it would be less of an experience if most of my bugs/fish were already caught etc. (it would also be a pain to track what I haven't yet donated to the museum). I would love to be able to visit my acnl town years down the line and reflect back on it, rather than have some data moved to the switch.

Because it's forced internet.

I can't get certain badges etc, without internet.

I bought the game for myself.
I don't want constant interaction.
Why would I?

I also don't own a PC, just a mobile, and it costs $10 per 1 gig.

Just being on the forum the last two days has cost me $30.

Imagine what it costs to visit towns I don't want to go to - 500 times for a badge!

I guess I would start with a new town, since I prefer to build a town from the beginning,
as it makes me more fun.

30$ just so that you can hang out in the forum for two days?? Oh dear, if I had to pay so
much I guess I would be broke within a short time. Aren't there any cheaper options you
could use to get online?

I fail to see your point as PC as a decreasing amount of internet interaction compared to previous games. In PC you can't communicate.

Edit: After reading your most recent post. Don't bad talk the design of AC online interaction just because it doesn't benefit you. Yeah the ridiculous amount needed for badges doesn't help anyone, I agree, but that doesn't make up majority of the game. That's like 2 or 3 badges out of how many total there are.

On the contrary, AC on mobile is good! Yeah there isn't as much online interation as what AC is known for but it doesn't make it less AC. You actually are forced to interact with animals and catch bugs/fish as well as garden - something that can easily be ignored in all other main AC games.

Club Tortimer. Gotta agree with Jon on the internet "probability" as that would ruin it for me. A 3DSXL is ideal for me due to its simplicity and size. I bought a Switch a few months ago along with Mario Kart 8 but, mainly, it's just waiting for the release of a new AC. No way will I interact with strangers online. Period!

Start over. I don't like my town name and it makes me want to reset, but I have a lot of valuable items that I don't want people to hold on to for me so that discourages me.

So if I get a fresh start while keeping my old town, that's great :)

No need to sound so harsh just because I have an opinion that differs from yours. :(

I'm not forcing you into my way of thinking, so don't try shoving pocket camp down my throat.

I've been staring at nothing but a mobile screen since my last PC packed it in, in 2009.
I'm not about to start playing games on that screen.
I am longsighted and it hurts my eyes.

You won't change my thoughts and I wouldn't bother trying to change yours.

We are all allowed an opinion.
But that opinion shouldn't be put forth in a civil manner.

Also, I was answering a question put to me by Keldi, on why I'd prefer less internet interaction.

Anyhow, I'm out of this thread now.
Cheers.
