Would you judge someone's town for this?

I've had my game for a few years now. I've kept the same town the entire time --
But a while ago, we had access to hacking our towns freely. We were able to change the appearance of our acres, move the buildings and PWPs around, change which villager lived in which house, et cetera.

I was ecstatic. I utilized it to change my map pieces around, to make sure all of the obnoxiously huge buildings were lined up at the fence at the top of my map. I used it to tuck a log bench into my bus stop. I used it to put two of my street lamps up closer to the fence than they were allowed to be, and closer to the cliff edge / the wall. I lined up all ten of my villagers' homes into impossibly close distance so I could fit all ten between my two bridges and path them neatly.

I never hacked in any bells, I never hacked in any items, and I have worked hard for everything I have now. I only ever moved things around because I just couldn't enjoy the spontaneity of the random layouts.

But I know there's people out there who don't even approve of plotting your villagers. Which I find absolutely crazy. I could never just roll with the changes the villagers would make to my town if left to their own devices. The thought brings me distress to the point I don't think I could be assed to play daily like I do now.

So -- if you saw a town with a clearly edited layout, would you assume they had hacked their house, their bells, their items, etc.? Would you instantly jump out of playing with them? Or just admire the work they put into their town outside of their editing?

I've always been wary of posting in the online play forum since I edited my map, and I'm definitely unsure of uploading my town to the Dream Towns and putting out my DC because of this.

i wouldn't judge someone for hacking neither would i judge someone who is so pure about the game that they won't even TT. i mean play however you want and enjoy your town, it's a 3DS game and shouldn't be so serious that ppl are feeling intensely judged over it.

also my favorite dream towns are all hacked, they're so pretty. i wish we could put clovers in the river and move the bulletin board around, etc. in normal game play.

Well.... if I were to go to a dream town or visit a town that had obviously hacked things outside, I would assume that they hacked items and bells too, just because most people who hack a little get hooked and hack everything. But, I would probably enjoy it a lot more than most other towns, since hacked towns tend to be unique and a lot more fun to explore than others.

I don't know how I could judge someone for putting a lot of time and effort into making their town pretty and pleasing, regardless of the user using hacks or them not. TBH if I knew how, I'd probably use hacks too to get some villagers out and move their houses around.

No. I joy visiting all players towns. Even the newbies starting out.
I've seen some pictures of interesting things done in towns. Never think about how many bells someone has when I drop by.
I'm too busy enjoying the scenery and talking to the villagers.

I really don't judge on how it looks but il probably think he hack the money and item too
Because if you had fun hacking the town you can do it with money
But il just think that and keep to myself I won't mentioned it to the player
I have gone into town like that and had fun exploring

Stuff like that isn't allowed here so you might get a lot of hate for it but I think it's fine if that's what you want to do or how you wanna play the game. Hacked towns are all over Tumblr so I'm kinda used to it. They're really neat looking when done right though.

It's your town play it the way you want and later for all else...this is why we play the game to leave the real world behind! :)o

yeah, i'll probably assume that...but i don't think about it too much. i love hacked towns. i focus more on unique pwp and house placements and such. as long as your town is actually functional, things should be good.

The only hacking I dislike is the kind that destabilizes the online economy (duping, infinite bells, hacked items).

Hacked towns can be very pretty, and it's always interesting to see what people will create when freed from the rigid restrictions of the game. Hacking to make a unique and beautiful town is A-OK in my opinion.

I personally don't use hacks, but that's because I'm pretty bad at tech-oriented stuff, and can't figure it out for the life of me. XD

Hacking isn't the root of all evil (in the public perception) anymore, so don't worry about being judged for a hacked town. People seem to be getting a lot less judgemental. What's important is that you're happy with your town.

I don't judge people on hacking. In fact, hacking can make your game really nice! I mean, sometimes it can be ugly. I'm not sure weather I would consider it cheating though. I guess it depends on what your doing. What you did wasn't cheating. And I bet your town lookign beautiful! Good job! Just don't cheat!

I would never judge anyone for creating a town they love, no matter what the means they went about to get it. It's a game and judgment is a silly waste of time and energy. I am always stunned when I see other players actually angry because some players tt or buy ig bells with tbt. Calling people cheaters and lazy, accusing them of destroying the nature of the game. It is a game meant to be enjoyed however the player sees fit and if someone is going to judge you, they have a little too much time on their hands. Enjoy your towns people!

I don't know the first thing about hacking, how or what can be hacked. But if I visit a DA and I see things that shouldn't be where they are I leave. I don't like it, I don't care what the player did or what were his reasons or where he drew the line with hacking, it makes me feel uncomfortable, so I leave.

Eh. Nah. Not my business on how you play the game. If you want to hack, then hack. It's the same when someone time travels. Some people are into it. Others are definitely not into it. I don't care what you do. Your game. Not mine. I wouldn't judge anyone over a silly little thing.

I thought that talking about hacking on this site is against the rules?

I don't judge people for it though.

Hey all. While I don't have any issues with this thread on its own, please remember that sharing hacking information does violate our rules and guidelines. Stating opinions about and/or discussing hacked towns is perfectly fine so long as you're not disclosing specific information about how to hack, and I did have to remove a couple of posts that were skirting the line as far as what's okay to share here.

Just something to keep in mind!

Oh if I could, I would. My line up villager plots look hacked, but in reality it took me months. If I could edit my town, I'd move my coffee shop just a bit and my campsite just a bit and get rid of 1 unfortunate rock that hinders my perfect little neighborhood. Buuuuuut I'd be afraid, something would happen internally to my game. I have a 100% catalog (minus a couple of hybrid seed bags) and over 100 mil bells. Still working on my badges though.
