Would you judge someone's town for this?

I have nothing against people who hack. It's not my place to judge & everyone has different ways of playing anyway. There's a lot of nice looking hacked towns but non hacked towns will always have more charm for me. I love seeing how people work with imperfections and still manage to make them look amazing. That gives me more inspiration to improve my town. <3

This, exactly this. Working around imperfections and making it work to your liking is more challenging and rewarding. I take inspirations from both hacked and unhacked towns to develop mine. I tried to adapt some ideas from a hacked town to work in my unhacked town and yeah it was fun.

More on topic: no I don't judge. Never even crossed my mind actually. I didn't even know you could generate stuff and bells by hacking. I thought only p/s could do that.

I think some hacked towns are very nice looking and some just look weird when they have flowers and bamboo growing in the river and trees next to each other which merge in to each other. However, I don't think of hacked towns as "real" ACNL towns because the player didn't make the town playing the actual game but instead created it by typing some code on a computer. If you're going to make a town that way, just play Sim City instead.

Meh. There's no wrong way to play as long as it doesn't negatively impact another player (negative opinions don't count!). The only thing that kind of bothers me is when people with hacked towns get super defensive and basically say that hacked towns are just as much work as non-hacked towns... Meanwhile they have 50 million bushes and cedar trees and all the most popular villagers. Like no, they literally aren't as much work because the vanilla gameplay puts limits on how quickly you can develop your town, and hacks let you bypass those limits, and that's okay! I fully recognize that people do put A LOT of hard work into hacked towns, but let's be real here, it would take way longer to do something remotely comparable without hacks. Just own it, and enjoy yourself. OP, you seem to be a bit of an outlier when it comes to hacking, but basically, my advice you would be to stop caring about other people's judgments or assumptions. There will always be jerks out there who will dump on the way you play. Don't let those people stop you from doing your thing.

I dont judge people for hacking their town whether they hack their map their villagers or their bells.
However, I personally believe it takes an element of challenge out of the game and to me that is spoiling one of the parts of the game I find fundamental. Challenge is part of any game and I think when you are breaking the rules of a game that's when it becomes no fun.

On the other hand, I think hacked towns can be beautiful and creative and I really enjoy what people do with them and love to visit them! I can see why people take the risk in bricking their game to make such pretty and inspiring towns! Would I do it? Probably not. I enjoy working with what I get and making it beautiful, and to me that's more rewarding than moving things around at will. My town would not be what I want if I hacked even though sometimes I do want to, because it seems cool. But I do other things like TT and pay for villagers so however you want to play the game is up to you, I just love to see what everyone can come up with :).

Honestly, I don't really care if the player hacked, as long as it looks like they put a ton of effort into their town. In the end, it only matters what you think about your town and if you enjoy it or not.

I wouldn't. Different people play the game differently, and I wouldn't judge anyone for how they play, even if that's hacking their town, including bells, or not even TT'ing.

Hacked towns can be really beautiful or weird looking, as can towns that haven't been hacked at all. As others have said, it's your town after all and you should do whatever you want to it, whether people judge you for it or not.

Well, since it's not against the rules to actually discuss opinions, I'll add more to mine:
Hacking brings a new element of challenges to the game depending on which hacks you do. Obviously if you give yourself max bells, the game becomes less challenging.
But if you're moving buildings or placing things in certain places, you have to be careful or else you can mess up your game and destroy it and have to reset your town.
I think some hacked towns look AMAZING, but some fall short and look really weird.
As long as you aren't causing harm to anyone else who may visit your town, there's no problem with it in my opinion and I think it's really nice depending on what the town looks like.
It's still time consuming to hack towns, yes it's less time consuming than doing everything vanilla, but you still have to be careful and watch what you're doing.
I've never hacked personally, but from what I've seen and what I've read, you do still have to be careful and it does bring new elements of challenges to the game, but in a different way.

I only judge people who hack a bunch of popular items to sell for tbt

or hack a bunch a igb and sell it for tbt

Of course I wouldn't judge. Animal Crossing is a game meant to be played for enjoyment. If you have fun and enjoy setting up a hacked town, cool! A lot of them look AMAZING and are really impressive! If you like to play naturally (no TTing, no plot resetting, etc.) that's cool too! As long as you're having fun playing your game, that's what's important. :)

All the hacked towns I've seen so far are absolutely stunning! I was considering learning how to hack on one of my DS's but I don't wanna risk losing my town or messing up my DS. I wouldn't hack bells or items I would just move houses/pwp to places I desired so I don't have to spend so many hours on plot resetting.
