I never thought I'd do this but I just began a big overhaul of landscaping in my town and am now second guessing myself. I really want to have a town that people WANT to come dream of, and its still a long way to go (mostly because my villagers have been asking for only pwp's that I have no intention of building...) but I just re-did a lot of flowers and am wondering if it looks ok.
If anyone would like to visit my dream address and then give me their thoughts I'd really appreciate it!
I'll happily visit yours in return :)

my dream address is: 4500-4830-0994

The spot I'm having my biggest issues with is with is the area right by the gate. I thought the gold roses in the bushes looked nice and wanted to expand on it, but I am kind of feeling like its just too many gold roses.
Right now it is Gold/White/Gold/Red/Gold/Black and then it repeats. I'm thinking it might look better either Black/White/Black/Red/Black/Gold instead or just Black/Red/Gold/White and then repeat. Feel free to comment on anything else you'd like also. I intend to build quite a few more Pwp's when I finally unlock them... And Margie is the last non-permanent resident, she's being exchanged for Gladys.
Input would be greatly appreciated!

Lmao lumbersexual, the town looks nice, really like the solid theme.
Love the gyroids on the ground in between the bamboo, would never thought of it.

-As far as the roses go i think they'd be better without the white roses. As soon as you get more zen paps that would be a great area to put them in. May I recommend the paw print wall for the sloppy room in the lumbersexual's house, goes nice with the lazy vibe of the sloppy set.

-I like the mix of ice and princess furniture, as well as the gold, gorgeous and exotic mix. Looks really nice and never thought of it. Your main house could really use some music, feels a bit bland and barren with just the sound of the clock ticking. and personally recommend the lunar horizon to go with the astrology set.

-I feel like the landscape of your town is fine, you just gotta work on the interior of your houses if you asked me. And why do you not have Ken in your town!! He's so cool and would be great with the oriental theme. The only good looking chicken tbh.

-4012-4903-5757 Please view my town and let me know what you like and don't like about. I got acnl for christmas last year so my town is pretty young.I need new paths, and I'm still trying to get Colton, Antonio, and Iggly out. The rest are dreamies. I also didn't plot reset for any of my villagers. Basically I'm new at this, but give me whatever tips you can.

Thank you for your intensive response Skyhook! There was a complicated set of events that made me sort of stop working on my houses so I know they need work but there have been other priorities - oops! What it was is that I started the town thinking I was gonna be all free form and not worry about villager movement and dreamies and whatever and I'd just change things as I needed to. I was gonna keep a few villagers for a while, but ultimately let everyone leave to keep things fresh... Cookie was one of my original five and I have always loved shep and I picked him up free very early on from another person. Once I got fed up of villagers plopping houses wherever and ruining anything I tried to do any time I started to like the landscape I picked dreamies and have been pretty much focused entirely on moving out the villagers I didn't want and plotting and developing around the villagers I picked up. Once I started that I pretty much dumped the houses. Once Margie leaves I'll be cycling Gladys into boxes in my cycle town and moving her in one spot back from where Margie is and then will get back to working on the houses which will each represent a season. My mayor will be winter, the lumbersexual will be fall, the girl in the tux will be summer and the guy I'll make after I'm done plot resetting will be spring. The sloppy and cardboard stuff will be moving to the museum. I appreciate the music suggestion, I hadn't really thought about music because I don't spend any time in my houses lol. I don't have Ken simply because I already had Shep and don't want to let him go and I also refuse to let Cookie or Lolly go, so there's really no space for him :(

To begin with I love that your dream was during a meteor shower! I'm sure you'll be changing your dream at some point, but that's a nifty touch for the time being!
I like how the card series looks with the sleek wall and carpet, much better than the card wall and floor! I also like the pairing of the masks, statue and armor suits with the rococo series, that looks really nice. And I always forget how much I like the sweets series til I see someone do something nice with it, I'd been toying with setting mine up in my museum and you have helped solidify that notion in my head.
Obviously the lower section of town needs more development but you appear to be working on hybrid farming down there also so all in good time. I'm not sure how I feel about your wife's house being set up as a boxing ring... lol!
I really like your cafe area, with the benches and clock, makes it feel like a little street cafe, especially with the nice palm tree view to the right of it.
I know your reset center and tent are up there but your upper left corner still feels like a bit of a dead zone, and for me it feels like your paths are very meandering and from a visitor perspective it is a bit maze-like. They definitely hit all the key areas on the bigger part of your map but in a very roundabout way. When/if you redo them I'd definitely suggest having a main, two block wide path for the big travel, then get a stand alone single tile path (either just a one tile total path, or one that's a one block complete path (a vertical and horizontal, a 4 way junction and 4 corner turns) to go to some of your less accessible areas, sort of like a sidewalk to compliment the "road" of the main paths. That way you're not trying to cram a wider path set into such small places.
It is definitely coming along nicely though and its obvious you're putting in some planning.
I'm surprised you don't like Colton or Antonio, I adore Antonio and enjoyed Colton for the short period I had him! I get the dreamie thing though, and if they don't make the cut they're just not the same.
I love the pink flowers around Flora's house, that's a very nice color coordinating touch!

I'll hop on and check your town out now, then let you know what I think as I'm going along~

Well, from what I've seen I can tell you've put a lot of time and effort into your landscaping. (I've actually had those gray paths in my second town before, I just replaced them a few days ago). I can also tell you even put an effort into getting certain villagers that match the theme of your town (Genji and Peoke, SO JEALOUS). For the area around your gate, perhaps maybe get some paths that look like water? Like a little pond or river? Other than that it looks pretty nice and I think it's a good idea not to cover -too much- around the train area, since you do need some space to drop items on the ground.

The only slightly negative things I'd have to say is that your town felt a little TOO landscaped, in a sense it felt slightly cluttered/constricting. There was almost no grass to be seen, really. I also felt like your mayors house was kind of too full as well, but that's just my own preference. It was hard to walk around the rooms because there was just so much stuff in them. I can see the other two houses are in progress so I won't comment on them.

So yeah, your town has a definite theme to it and I can see the effort you took in. It was just a little over-done for my tastes.

-I appreciate your criticism very much :)

-I don't think I'll be redoing my town, mostly because it's basically my first Animal Crossing, I played the gamecube one when I was super young lol. I will take into consideration all the tips about paths and all. I do plan on starting a second town in a few months, and I wanna do a themed town too.

-I do really like Antonio,he's such a fun villager. but I want Benjamin, and Skye so bad. Originally I wanted Lyman but as much as I love the jock personality i've been without a lazy for a month and think i'm gonna go with Jeremiah, Cube, or Chester or have Ken as a second smug. And yeah Shep is such cool chill reggae dog. Ken just came to mind when I saw your town and I love him..

-I will definitely start working more on landscaping, and take all your tips into consideration. I love the four seasons theme btw. I have a few ideas for the left side of my town . I will definitely be stealing a few from your town. I will try redo some of the paths on the right side of my town. Also in case if you didn't know the fence with the pink roses was a memorial for Rosie, who I lost.

I agree about the houses being a bit full, definitely need more balance, definitely remove some of the items. I do love the mix of furniture sets keep those for the most part.

I see ALOT of over landscaped towns and I personally don't think this was one of them. There was a few areas that needed a bit more grass but overall pretty balanced.

As far as the gate area where the flowers were, I think I have an idea. The Zen bench, clock and hot spring public works projects would be nice there. Like a little park. As far as the roses just put them around the pwps and leave some grass for a more park-like feel.

I also love the idea of water paths, definitely that or the park area.

Your town is very nice! A few things I want to point out

- The vertical path to the left of Pekoe, Genji and Margie's houses feel odd when it all of a sudden gets cut off behind Deirdre's house.

- Actually, that little bit of land sticking out beneath your horizontal bridge is really unique, I've never seen anything like that before in other people's towns

- Your progression of rainbow flowers along the road near the campsite looks awesome! Have you tried using that same pattern on the opposite side?

- the area around the gate with all the gold roses feels a bit flat, tbh. Maybe add a few trees surrounding Cookie's house, or line your entire path with bush - flower - bush - flower. Maybe you could even find a river pattern and maybe have a river running through that area lined with fully grown bamboo

- and lastly this is personal preference, but I think paths with a dark/muted colour look fantastic on bright, sunny days!
