Would I get a voided villager by visiting another town?

So if I go to somebody else's town while I only have 9 villagers could I get one of their voided villagers? Or is it only when you're the host that happens?

i think it's only when they visit you, but I've had mixed experiences that lead me to believe it can go both ways. if I were you I'd ask them to clear their void first just to be safe! ​

It can happen. I got Filbert from my best friend just by visiting his town (he never visited mine), so yes.

It doesn't matter if you visit someone or they visit you. You always risk picking up a villager when you have 9 or less.
