So I restarted my town last night, found the perfect town layout (yay!) but...

MY STARTING VILLAGERS SUCK.

I got...

Jambette
Elise
Simon
Elvis (he's kinda okay)
Kody

Thank god I've got my main villagers held in my cycling town but dear god... I pity the person who would have to be greeted at the train station with that. :p

Kody, Jambette and Elise are great starters. My new town started with Fauna, Diana, and Drago (and Chief) and I have to say that it felt mighty generic in my town until Shep, Tabby and Diva moved in.

dude, Jambette tho

It's nice that villagers aren't permanent, in that instance.
LOL if you found the perfect map and there was no cycling villagers out.

I would LOVE to have had Elvis and Simon!

I have had an even worse one while trying to get a good one for Tartarus though!

Harry (the ONLY bad hippo)
Elise (The ONLY bad monkey)
Jambette (shudder)
Moose (AGGGGHHHHH!)
Prince (AAAAAAAAAAAGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!)

Drago is IMO the 2nd best Lazy in the game! Just above Clay, and just below Tucker!

He behaves exactly like every other lazy, so I don't see how he's better or worse than any other. It's all just design.

He's a dragon! That is AWESOME!!!! (Design wise, he and Tucker the Mammoth are tied for my favorite lazy, and while Drago's house is AMAZING, Tucker has one thing that slightly places him above Drago......Tucker and I share the same Birthday!)

Wow. Your interpretation is about as deep as a kiddie pool.
I'm sorry that you don't find my taste in videogame animals profound. ;) I'm not trying to be rude, it's just that I truly don't understand the idea of tiers. The way a character looks affects how we respond to them- the personalities themselves in this game are identical.

I suppose it kind of adds to the whole equation, but I mean people like Jambette and she's not exactly eye candy. It's about making a connection really.

it also has a lot to do with nostalgia for players who had other titles in the series
like rocco is pretty ugly but he was the first villager i ever spoke to so i love him on a spiritual level u feel

But eyecandy is subjective. I genuinely think Jambette is cute.

So I suppose it comes down to me thinking that the tier lists merely reflect the popularity of a design, not any kind of innate superiority in terms of how Fauna acts as a normal villager in comparison to Molly, know what I mean?

I also hate the very concept of tier lists. People should just play as who they want, have villagers they want, and popularity shouldn't be a factor. There are some popular ones I like, but some I really HATE!

I don't care if Meta Knight is #1 on the Brawl tier list. If I want to be Kirby, I am going to f-ing play as Kirby!!
Super Street Fight 4 (3DS version) I always play as Sakura because I like to play as her! (Plus she's hot!) I don't care who #1 is. My favorite will always be Sakura!

Yeah, and even though the personalities are the same, I have a feeling they are a bit different between villagers. I mean, I had Drake as my lazy, but he mostly talked about sleeping and eating and being tired.
Then I got Beau, and the very first thing he said to me was that the morning was beautiful and he liked walked outside. And in the time I had them both in my town, Beau said this like 5 times and Drake only once, and never before Beau came. But this made me connect with Beau so much more than with Drake, and it has nothing to do with popularity for me.

Now I have 2 jocks, Rory the lion and Hamlet the hamster, and though they say the same things, one if more prone to say certain things than the other (like Hamlet told me 6 times in the week that he's been here already that people from other towns should come visit and he'll keep training to show off, and Rory who is one of my starters and already with me for more than a month has said it twice.)

Rory is one of my favorites! I <3 Lion villagers!

I don't think they're all that bad, and even if someone got them without having other villagers on standby, they can be moved out fairly quickly. :) I just started my 2nd town 2 days ago and I wasn't really fussed on my villagers, because I LOVE my map and everything else. I was a bit peeved when Diva moved in as my 6th villager, right on the spot next to my awesome diagonal waterfall, but then I realised that she'll move out before I get any PWP's that I want to put there. :)

I had Bob, Dotty, Angus, Blanche and Bone.

Dotty is awesome, and Blanche and Angus are really good villagers too. But Boone... AAARGH. Ugly and annoying. And Bob. God. Why me? WHY BOB?
