Worse Villagers

The only villager I refuse to ever have on my island is Yuka, but that’s because I had her on the island in the GameCube game (yes, the island you could only get to with a GameBoy & a link cable). She was such a brat and I’ve disliked her ever since. Hmph!
Yuka is a total sweetheart now though :(
I feel like the Gamecube made enemies of villagers to some people because of how mean the dialogue was in that game in general. Yeah they're different now, but it's human nature to look at them and remember your negative experiences with them and continue to hate them as a result. I have Yuka and Ursala on my island rn, both of whose reputations I feel like their presence in GC tarnished for people. I never played the GC and I had Yuka in WW, so my experiences of them both are positive by comparison

Also Yuka has RBF lol

There's no such thing as a good villager or a bad villager! :)

For example, Rodney the hamster and Raymond the cat are the EXACT same character, from the things they say to the way they act. A lot of people just prefer how Raymond looks compared to Rodney, and thus Rodney has been labeled a "bad" villager when he is the same as Raymond.

Having popular villagers (or villagers people have labelled as "good" villagers) will have no effect on your game whatsoever. To a lot of people, they are just pretty props to make their towns look good. And if that's how you want to play, that's fine! Everybody has their own playstyle. But you would be surprised by the villagers you bond with! You may end up with a ""bad"" villager being your favourite. :)

I'm pretty new to AC, got the game few days ago. Been getting advice from patients when I start wiring them up before their study. A few gave the same advice like "don't get bad villagers like Del, Spike, or Rodney". What's the worse that could happen having them around?
I'm sorry, but that's an opinion. replace those with just Raymond. Del's cool, being based off of a ship, and Rodney is yes

I don’t think there are necessarily bad villagers, because everyone has their own opinion. Like some Villagers like Jitters look super terrifying, but somehow that has a certain unique charm, which other villagers don’t have, because there are also so many generic looking ones. And the more special looking ones also make up for a good background story.

That’s also why some people like Muffy, Coco, Pietro, Stitches etc.

There is just a villager for everyone and if you really like a villager, just let them live on your island. You only have to avoid villagers you personally don’t like.

The important thing to remember is that there's no worse or bad villager, there's 8 personalities possible and a lot of different designs.
The rest is basically "I like the combo of his design/animations/dialogues ingame or not".

Everyone so far has pretty much already said it, and so I'll say the same: there's really no such thing as a "bad villager" in Animal Crossing. There are 8 different personalities of villagers and each type has a large set of animals with different appearances, species, coats of paint, and all the nuts and bolts to make them unique. Most people simply tend to be drawn to the cuter villagers and deterred from the outlandish and weird-looking ones, but it all comes down to personal opinion. You may end up not liking a villager that is considered popular while also finding a villager that is heavily disliked by the community to be your best friend, and that's okay! It's your game with your own unique cast of characters to help you shape your island to what you want it to be, "bad villager" or not. I hope you enjoy the game going forward :)
