Worse Villagers

I'm pretty new to AC, got the game few days ago. Been getting advice from patients when I start wiring them up before their study. A few gave the same advice like "don't get bad villagers like Del, Spike, or Rodney". What's the worse that could happen having them around?

Most of the time, the reasoning behind why some are labeled bad villagers are simply because of their appearance. If you still like to get those so-called 'bad villagers', go ahead and do not back down from liking them! Some of us have 'bad villagers' but we still like them because of our personal experience with them.

idk, but it is rumored that having "not cute" villagers gives you bad luck, things like some npcs rarely showing up because they cant handle seeing them around.

Just kidding with you, op. It is likely that they dont like these villagers, but there really isnt any in-game side effects yet to having them.

Those 3 villagers are okay. It all comes down to preferences. I used to dislike Pietro, but that was only because of what people thought of him. Pietro is amazing though, and I regret being swayed by other people's opinions.

I also dislike Jambette for having those massive lips, but it's just what makes her unique and part of her charm when you get to know her personally.

Give all villagers a chance. Even if you think you'll dislike them.

Choose whoever you like. Honestly, when I first had Al on my island, I didn't think I'd care much for him. He's not exactly one of the best looking villagers in the game, but he ended up being my favorite out of all the villagers. Then one day he moved and I was sad. There aren't any bad villagers. It's all preference.

The only villager I refuse to ever have on my island is Yuka, but that’s because I had her on the island in the GameCube game (yes, the island you could only get to with a GameBoy & a link cable). She was such a brat and I’ve disliked her ever since. Hmph!

Each villager is unique and someone out there loves them. That’s what makes them special. The fact that each person is given random villagers is something to be embraced, so even if I have nothing against island hopping for dreamies and getting Amiibo cards to move your favorites in (which I do myself), there’s a certain beauty in meeting random villagers and getting to become special friends with them.

Somebody out there loves Rodney. Someone out there has fond memories of Jambette. After having a bad day at school, there is a kid out there who was cheered up by Pietro, I bet. Sorry about rambling about this suddenly but I’m passionate about this.

For me, this special friend is Punchy.

There's no such thing as bad villagers. It's just someone's preference of their appearance. I mean if you have an island of 10 smugs, in the end they're pretty much the same except the appearance.

Can you imagine, they all do the flourish reaction at the same time and shout, "I'd bring lipbalm!"

Don't fall into the lies. Even ugly villagers have their charm! Go for villagers you like rather than villagers that are just popular. If those two categories coincide, that's fine too.
