If you consult this list of confirmed villagers as of now in New Horizons, one thing jumped at me : the only villagers we have seen as of now are basic villagers from New Leaf. None of them are Welcome amiibo villagers. None.

No Olive, no Ketchup, no Carrie, no Piper, no Plucky or June, etc.

I hope Nintendo is not cutting back and settled for the first list of New Leaf villagers.:(

EDIT: It seems Piper (Welcome amiibo villager) was on the pamphlet of the Nintendo Live! event held earlier this autumn, but not on a screenshot, but rather as art on the pamphlet. Is that enough for me to think the Welcome amiibo villagers will be in New Horizons?

I think they will be part of NH, especially if they were on any kind of promo art. I don't really know how the game development works but I don't think they'd spend time refining old villager models to bring into NL if they are just gonna leave them out of NH? Idk. I've grown so attached to a lot of the returning villagers so I would hate to see them left out. Especially my pudgy penguin Wade.

They can't show them all, there's a crapload.

I wouldn't worry.

Woe betide them, if they leave out Wolfgang.

I'll be armed with dogs and pencils.

Per my count New Leaf had 399 villagers. 76 villagers are up to this point forever stranded in previous titles (most of them being Animal Crossing / Animal Forest e+ exclusives). It seems to me they are at this time only showing the popular / highly desirable villagers which seems reasonable from a marketing perspective (I'm so sorry Pietro fans). I can almost guarantee that the initial release will not have the Sanrio villagers though, which is unfortunate as Toby is great. Hopefully an update will bring them along for the ride later though.

I suppose my point is Nintendo thus far has not had a habit of stranding large numbers of villagers in previous games. I wouldn't stress too much about it. I am very curious if Amiibo cards will be immediately compatible or not though.

Seems logical enough. Although I would not say Tammy, Kiki, Angus, and Vesta are real fan favorites...

kiki and vesta are absolutely fan favourites, especially kiki

i'm not sure about tammy and angus but maybe they're famous with the japan fanbase?

I would just wait at this point till we get more informations. I don't think that they gonna drop those villagers right after they just brought them back after all those years. After all, we are also still missing in general a whole bunch of villagers which appeared in New Leaf.

But then again also not that completely unpopular, like I see lots of people who love Kiki for example. And honestly, even if they show more non-fan-favorite villagers then I wouldn't mind it, I would actually welcome this, as it's more refreshing to see those getting attention rather then tier 1 villagers only.

Yeah, I feel you guys. I was worrying about this in NewLeaf too. I want my all my kangaroo cinnamon rolls. I would love for Valise to come back... ;-;

I wouldn't worry. It's too early + there are too many villagers to make any assumptions by the very few villagers we've seen.

I'm also looking to Pocket Camp for hints of what's to come, even though I hate that game. If the wiki I checked is correct, there are over 150 villagers in PC currently, and its a dinky mobile game that is purposefully slow-dripping new content. Many WA villagers are in PC (and their RV furniture), and the Sanrio villagers are in it too now.

It feels safe to assume at the VERY least, every villager in Pocket Camp will be in New Horizons. A lot of people were introduced to Animal Crossing thru that game... myself included! Eventually I got frustrated with PC and stopped playing, bought New Leaf instead, and I'm completely in love with the "real" game.

New Horizons is a big game on a modern console, and the villagers are a the whole point. I am not worried about anyone from New Leaf being excluded, and I bet we'll see "retired" villagers come back too (iirc the Welcome Ambiio villagers were all existing villagers that were re-introduced, right?).

Huh. Can they leak more villagers instead of fruits and players hair styles? Sheesh!

I'm most definitely sure that "All" the villagers from New Leaf (Plus the Welcome Amiibo villagers) will be in New Horizons one way or the next.

All i'm hoping for is that Nintendo comes out of their shell and reveals new & returning villagers sometime soon. I always get so iffy when all they've shown were just the villagers we've seen before. Remember Rudy in a trailer of New Leaf? He's kinda like the Impidimp of Animal Crossing if you know what I mean.

Do tell. I do not understand the reference!

I don't really worry about it because there are sooo many villagers to choose from. If some arn't in the game, even if they are my favorits, I wouldn't be sad at all. I would new favorits ^^

If they put Piper on the pamphlet I think they will include all the others as well.

Poppy
Rowan
Stitches
Apple
Piper
T. Bone
Peaches
Skye
Iggly
Beau
Mallary
Margie
Tank

These villagers were in the pamphlet, and I?m sure a few on this list aren?t in Pocket Camp so they haven?t been forgotten! Also, looks like all of the villagers get new renders which makes sense given the updated clothes. I honestly want Champ back! There doesn?t appear to be a need for Porter since there is no train/tram/trolley in New Horizons since it looks like your primary travel is by boat.

I'd assume so given there are amiibo cards of them and the cards are a part of the game?
