But that's 16 individual characters that I have to color code and make effects for. That's way too much work.

Yeah. And I was barely able to fit those 12 and they were extremely small. 16? Too many. And besides, I didn't have to do much for effects. I just pen-tooled simple shapes to their corresponding colors.
And then I can't overlap individual renders with individual effects, which creates a huge problem for me and the quality of work that I do.
