Stock images are usually images of a forest, a city street, a meadow, etc. You know? Images of scenery. It wouldn't work well at all if the stock is the stock image of a character (in this case, the bird). I need it rendered.

Reason why your stock image of that booby bird worked: It was a blank stock with the bird in the middle. Worked out well.
