Hello! I recently won a giveaway online for a bunch of NMT. I didn't put anything in, so I'm not worried about getting scammed. But, the amount of NMT is HIGH. More than I'd ever need, but I intend to pick up my prize so I can share some tickets with my wife who plans to go Dreamie-Hunting tomorrow for her open property.

If these NMT were gained through a hack, I have no way of knowing. Can this hurt my game? I assume not since they are NMT and not wrapped items or something like that.

Can anyone give me peace of mind? My wife and I don't play enough to have more than maybe 10 NMT at a time for a villager search.. so this would be a godsend. Just wanting to make sure I'm not walking headfirst into a glitched save file, a ban, or something crazy.

Hi, I don't know if NMT can be hacked anymore, or if it would hurt your game, so I can't speak to that. Just wanted to say that if you and your wife need tickets, I have a lot of miles stored up and I'd be happy to give you some tickets for Dreamie Hunting.

I'm home in the evenings, so let me know and I could drop a stack off for you.

Thank you so much for the offer! I will definitely let you know if we could use them :) This community is so sweet.

I've won a huge nook mile giveaway on this site (which I trust) and a few small ones on other sites that I don't really know much about. Both times I never had any issues with the game afterward, just loads of NMT to go hunting with! I'm not sure if any were hacked, but if they were, they didn't give me any trouble! It's been a few months and so far so good!

Thank you for the replies!!

I'm an old head who comes from the age of Gameshark-Created Pokemon that could cause save file corruption/glitches upon trading.. and I've never won an AC giveaway, so I am immediately in the "too good to be true" mentality.

I really appreciate you guys giving me insight. I will be collecting my prize on my lunch break and will update with the results!

I don't see how it would hurt the game. Presumably, they work the same as regular NMT even if they're hacked. I don't think Nintendo would ban you either since it's not like you know where the NMT come from.

If it gives you some peace of mind, some people manage to get a lot of NMT. On places like Nookazon it's basically the main currency so someone who sells a lot of stuff could easily get lots of NMT that way. I don't know how many you won but considering villagers can go for dozens of NMT, just cycling could net someone hundreds in a relatively short time. Even here, I've seen an exchange rate of 1 TBT = 1 NMT before and plenty of users have hundreds or thousands of TBT and could get lots of NMT that way.

Besides, I think going to the effort of hacking to generate NMT and giving them out for free doesn't sound that likely. It's a possibility, but I think people would be more likely to sell/trade it.

Nook Miles tickets certainly lost their value over time because it's easy to print them. Furthermore, majority of the playing population already got their villagers they wanted and some already quitted. (The hype for this game died a long time ago.)

So, we got a lot of them circulating everywhere. We also can't discount the fact that Amiibo distribution killed the villager market for good since it's easy to invite them over via campsite and it's reliable as compared to trading with other players.

You really don't have to worry. It's really common for someone to amass a lot of them. I, myself, included. :)

The only thing you have to watch out for hack-wise is accepting wrapped presents from strangers. Apparently there are hackers who make it so that you can't get rid of the present once you open it.. Not sure if it has been fixed yet

NMT is no problem though

Unfortunately, it seems like we are in drastically different time zones and the giveaway organizer has stopped communicating with me.. which is a bummer, but nothing lost, nothing gained I guess!

I appreciate everyone giving me insight. I won’t be so nervous the next time I possibly win a giveaway!
