I love having Wolf Link in my town, but is anyone else slightly disappointed with him? I like his design and house, but the smug personality doesn't really seem to fit him exactly. I feel like a jock would of been better for him since Link goes on adventures all the time.

Not that familiar with the Legend of Zelda series, but some people certainly might feel short-changed if they imagined (or previously experienced) a villager being/having a certain personality, but it didn't turn out the way they initially thought (their personality was changed to another). I would've loved to have a lazy wolf villager, but finding out that Dobie became a cranky was a bit of a disappointment.
But hey, at least W. Link's not another cranky wolf! :) There's too many of them now.

The worst part about W. Link is Nintendo abbreviating Wolf. The "W" just bothers me for some reason. I don't understand why, but it just does. I know Wolf wouldn't fit on the name area of the dialogue box but they should have just called him Link. Plus, I didn't buy all of his stuff in his RV thus I kicked him out of my town. So now Shep took his place as the smug villager in my town. Shep is pretty cute.

I have no problem with him being a smug. I don't see Link as a jock or as a lazy. But then again who knows since this is the first time Link actually talks and shows a personality not counting the CD-I games. Like the above poster said, just be glad his isn't another cranky like with all other male wolf villagers besides Kyle (they should have left Dobie as a lazy wolf.)

I hate that they abbreviated his name too! And I also am disappointed that he doesn't make Legend of Zelda references.. I thought he would :(

How did you double post without getting a post merge?

I think he should have been lazy, since Link never wants to wake up.

The closest they've came is when Eunice in my town mentioned Ganon and W. Link fighting like cats and dogs. That one kinda made my day, lol.

O definitely think he should be a jock. Link is an active adventuring guy, so I think that would fit much better than smug, which is basically the hipster personality. (not that I have anything against smugs lol, i have 3)

yes smug for wolf link disappointed me but the problem is that AC personalities don't suit him very well they should have coded new ones for the special characters imho but of course that was too complicate for a mere update i guess ^^''
about Dobie I've never encounterd him in my previous game but when I saw his face for the first time cranky personality came to mind immediately
he's old and busy so fits him perfectly

I was super confused by the personality choice, but my friends and I all kinda lost it laughing. My immediate response was "OH MY GOD, THEY MADE LINK A WEEB!" it matches with that awful sassy cartoon persona he had years ago. I'm honestly super tickled by the whole thing. I would feel like a lazy personality would be a bit better, but the thing we also need to realize is that link's cannon personality is very limited, he has moments of sass and kindness, but they really don't give us that much of an over-all personality for him, so we kind of imprint our ideas of what he should be on to him. I'm just happy we have wolf link at all~ But I can totally understand people being upset about the smug persona~ At least he has some cute quotes from the zelda series that he spews at you c:

Tbh, it would've been cooler if the special amiibo villagers had different personalities that weren't smug, normal, etc.
..It would've made them more unique since they'd have different dialogue and such :)

I know nothing about Zelda or the franchise/characters, so it doesn't really bother me lol. I think he looks really cool tho (I love wolves), so I moved him in to my town.

Only thing I despise is his abbreviated name... why not just Link?
btw... I think Jock would be nice... Smug is ok too. :

oh no, i absolutely LOVE his personality. i know he is categorized as a smug but he really doesn't act like it, he became my favorite villager not only because of the amazing reference to twilight princess, but because of the things he says and does. he's so nice and cute! and i know all the villagers are but, he's always the nicest to me and that's what i love the most about him. he's honestly got such a good personality.

but back to the whole 'smug' thing - i think it doesn't fit the way he acts but i don't pay attention to that really.
