Wisp Should've Had Special Items...

For how much Nintendo pushes online, I'm surprised Wisp doesn't give out special items? While I think he's a cute character, I don't actively seek him out as I do other NPCs (Celeste, Gulliver, even Saharah and Redd are more sought after), and the biggest reason is because he only gives you furniture you would've otherwise obtained via trading or Nook's (correct me if wrong though).

It would have been very cool if Wisp gave out spooky or spirit-y items, and they can keep Wisp as a NPC exclusive to the island owner, I don't mind. Plus this would add another rare set of DIY/furniture to the pool!

Wisp was pretty cool to me at the beginning when I didn't have a lot of furniture, but most people have unfortunate experiences where he gives you an "expensive" item and it isn't that expensive at all LOL

Scouring your island for those five spirits doesn't seem like worth the effort. What's worse is that he gives you a random furniture that you might not even use at all. They should really redesign him.

I agree as well, would be nice to have special items, but it might take a while to get all of them.

The issue with wisp is the values. If you ask for an item you don't have yet, Wisp will give an item worth 1500 bells or less, if you ask for something expensive, he will give you an item worth 10000 bells or less. Why is there a cap to this? They could have made the really expensive stuff rare.

Wisp never had exclusive items afaik. In the gamecube game, you did the exact same thing as in NH. The rewards were: Painting your roof, pulling weeds, and some other things I don't remember since it has been too long.

I didn't know this. I agree they should definitely make the cap higher.

Would be nice to get Wisp-exclusives along with the normal "new furniture" items!

If I get something I don't need or want and assuming it's a good fit, I gift it to an appropriate villager.

... Except for bathroom items.

It just feels too awkward to gift a toilet or some such.

I didn’t either! I guess I’ll start asking for expensive items then. It does strike me as dumb though, since quite a few items in game are at least 50k+ or even 100k+.

That's interesting because I have definitely gotten items with values over 1.5k when asking for something new.

On the other hand, I got something less than 1k when I asked for expensive and so after that one experience, I've never asked for something expensive ever again.

Wait, am I missing something? What's the connection here? Is Wisp exclusive to people who have NSO despite not requiring online features himself?

Uh, aside from that, I completely agree...I don't even bother him anymore, I can't bring myself to even finish the "achievement," I already have more or less all of the furniture and variations catalogued so there's really nothing he can give me I wouldn't already have (at least, it'd be extremely rare since many of the remaining items are >10000 bells).

I agree we should have gotten the opportunity to get some Wispy furniture or something, even DIYs or something, I can only imagine how cool different lights and stuff that glows would have been from Wisp.

Same. The first time I encountered I asked for something expansive and he gifted me a crappy shirt. After that I only asked for something new.

I agree. There should have been a special furniture set/DIYs (maybe spirit-themed or sleep-themed) for Wisp.

When I found out that the rewards are random furniture, I no longer bother talking to him whenever I see him around. The trees have given me better furniture honestly.

Wisp is available to everyone.

That is exactly what happened to me as well! I was given some sort of "expensive" banner for my wall and it was worth 600something bells.

Wisp mentioned not really knowing how to judge value and I guess I should have heeded the warning lol.

Edit: Now that I've gotten farther into the game, I have Wisp help me fill out my catalog... Regardless of how useful the items may be.

I totally agree. I love the little guy, but doing his quest doesn't feel rewarding enough imo. At least with Gulliver you get exclusive items.

yes omg imagine if he gave you fairy lights
actually what happens if you keep his spirit parts, can you decorate your island with them or do they disappear?

I think they just meant that special items always encourage more trading since they're harder to obtain on your own.

Oh man I haven't played AC since Wild World so totally didn't realize the history behind him and what he offered! Then again Celeste was repurposed to give cool starry/zodiac DIY when her role was just constellation making in Wild World  ooh even special roof colors could add pizazz to his character!

Haha sorry definitely didn't preface NSO well! Since the 1.2.0 update there has been datamined info that the hybrid islands got removed, and some speculated it was to encourage trading online, not to mention the rarity of farming Celeste or Redd by yourself that you would want to visit others if that makes sense! Wisp is a random occurring NPC and doesn't require NSO, but if he had special items, I feel that this would encourage even more trading which Nintendo loves to push at us!!

Also - didn't even know he had a cap...no wonder his "expensive items" were not that appealing to me LOL

I wish you could get something secial as well. I was real excited the first few times I saw him but really have never received anything that has intetested me. Spooky items would have been fun.

That would be adorable! Though the starry garland does come close to what you describe!

LOL considering his spirit is part of Wisp himself I don't think Nintendo would allow it to be a decorative item though I would love an equivalent of it cause it's so PRETTY, also if you don't return them, they just disappear :)
