Haha sorry definitely didn't preface NSO well! Since the 1.2.0 update there has been datamined info that the hybrid islands got removed, and some speculated it was to encourage trading online, not to mention the rarity of farming Celeste or Redd by yourself that you would want to visit others if that makes sense! Wisp is a random occurring NPC and doesn't require NSO, but if he had special items, I feel that this would encourage even more trading which Nintendo loves to push at us!!

Ahhh that makes more sense, my bad - I had no idea about the hybrid islands being removed, though, that is interesting!

LOL considering his spirit is part of Wisp himself I don't think Nintendo would allow it to be a decorative item though I would love an equivalent of it cause it's so PRETTY, also if you don't return them, they just disappear

My only problem with Wisp is how often he gives you just trash for the expensive items. Why not add a ticket or star fragments to the pool? The choice between new and expensive should be more difficult.

I'm personally not a fan of NPC-specific items, I'd rather them just have their own shop when talking after finishing the quest. Like with CJ, and then they sell like Kicks with rotating items.

Agreed!! I like Wisp as a character and I’m so glad we can catch his spirits again like in the gamecube game, but I don’t actually do it often anymore because it’s so tedious and takes so long with how they move all around the island that it kinda annoys me. Sometimes he’s given me stuff I was actually looking for when I asked for something new, but usually I don’t care for what I get and the one time I picked something expensive he gave me something super cheap lol. I bet they could’ve made such cute special items for him but nope

I definitely love the concept of Wisp providing special DIYs much like Celeste. Perhaps spooky or haunted items, even though it would be ironic given his fear of ghosts

But I have gotten nothing great out of Wisp, from what I recall, I have mainly gotten wallpaper or flooring, where all variations have been uninteresting. The only "remarkable" thing I have gotten from him was a Retro Gas Pump, but even then, it's still underwhelming.

I plan to stop bothering with him once I get all of the Nook Miles achievements. His quest just takes too much time and his reward is rarely worth it.

I agree with you! It would be cool to get spooky themed items from him or even something new. Especially since he only comes once a week. I'm debating if I'm going to stop helping him when I get the achievement since he's usually here when I'm in the middle of other stuff and I'd rather not spend an hour finding that last spirit piece lol

He definitely isn't my favourite NPC and getting through his repetitive dialogue is torturous. And I definitely was disappointed when I realized he didn't give special items. But now I'm just happy to receive something new, since I want to complete my catalogue eventually, so it kinda helps a little.

Spooky furniture would be pretty nice. It would definitely be fitting coming from him, just like how Pascal in New Leaf would give you pirate furniture for finding those hard to get scallops.

Yeah, I agree as well. I wish he also had themed items or something - it would have been so cool. Sometimes, I don't mind the motivation to catch all his spirits even if he's a cutie lol.

I didn't realize that Wisp had a cap! No wonder he kept giving me toilet cleaning sets!!! That being said, I keep doing his tasks until I get all the nook mile stamps. Hopefully he gets an update so we can get better rewards

For how much Nintendo pushes online, I'm surprised Wisp doesn't give out special items? While I think he's a cute character, I don't actively seek him out as I do other NPCs (Celeste, Gulliver, even Saharah and Redd are more sought after), and the biggest reason is because he only gives you furniture you would've otherwise obtained via trading or Nook's (correct me if wrong though).

It would have been very cool if Wisp gave out spooky or spirit-y items, and they can keep Wisp as a NPC exclusive to the island owner, I don't mind. Plus this would add another rare set of DIY/furniture to the pool!

Wisp was pretty cool to me at the beginning when I didn't have a lot of furniture, but most people have unfortunate experiences where he gives you an "expensive" item and it isn't that expensive at all LOL

When I first encountered Wisp, I was pleasantly happy because I went in cold not knowing what would happen.
And...ngl it was a massive letdown. Very...underwhelming.

With all the running around, nothing exciting happened,
and not even an NPC- exclusive item...?? C'mon now, Nintendo.
What an utter waste of opportunity: Wisp got the shoved aside treatment, like poor Celeste in NL, who got locked wasting away in the 2nd floor warehouse department. Not even get to look up into the night sky. Yes, I am still bitter lol.

But why yes, of course, "there will be updates".

I like him, doing something different than the usual daylies and getting some item that I don't have... But you're right, it would be so cool if he had some special themed stuff!

I agree! I rarely bother with him when he visits my island which is a shame as I really like him as a character
