I never liked the positioning of this hat.
Penelope fidgeted with her elegant hat, attempting to yank it down a little farther down her forehead. The net of the thing always showed for some reason, and she could never hide it. Perhaps it was intended to be that way, some sort of fabulous detail Gracie approved of. Giving herself a look-over, Penelope let go of her favorite hat and smoothed out her fluffy, warm coat. She pointed her foot out from under her and turned it side to side, letting her purple pumps glimmer in the light of her room. Her black stockings were warm and cozy, and they should keep her insulated on this bitterly cold winter evening. She glanced at herself in the mirror and beamed, her hazel eyes glittering back at her. She came such a long way from first entering this town after Isabelle practically begged her to be their new mayor. The whole "you must be our new mayor!" thing had been a farce, after all. The past mayor, some old tortoise named Tortimer of all things, had been captured by a family of Kappas to not be seen again. They needed some kind of cover-up story for the villagers, so being the kind soul she was, she took the job. Penelope's eyes widened. Wait... Kapp'n is a Kappa. His family is too, obviously. Does that mean...
Penelope shook her head. It doesn't matter now--I'm the mayor! I've been doing a great job. Isabelle even has told me that I am much better than Tortimer ever was, after all. She grinned and walked over to her dresser to pull out a glass and bottle of her favorite Merlot. I've never understood how I can fit so many things in here... even the moon. After pouring herself a glass, she closed the dresser and walked outside, swirling the liquid around. The sky was a clear blue and the brightness of the white snow hurt her eyes for a moment. She shielded her glimmering eyes with a free arm and turned to her unfinished home, sighing.
In the midst of her taking a huge gulp of her drink, she spotted Jambette pinging her, clumsily running over with that disgusting open-mouthed grin on her face, tongue flapping out. Penelope always resented that frog after replaced her beloved Merengue. She chugged down the rest of her wine, ignoring the burning sensation in her throat, threw the glass at Jambette and made a run for it to Nook's Homes to pay off the final portion of her debt, carefully avoiding her perfectly placed hybrids. Jambette wasn't going to get her to buy some lousy over-priced wallpaper from her to waste precious saved up bells. Not today.
Note: Sorry, I tend to get long-winded when writing, hope more than one paragraph was okay!
