Even though I never played City Folk, I heard that it's one of the least favourite titles. But at least from what I know that game had traditional Animal Crossing fused with a bit of the city aspect. (Probably less than people had hoped for.)
I really don't like the idea of Animal Crossing incorporating the "big city" element/aspect.
I am more used to the traditional idea of being in a little seaside town with lots of greenery, casually going about catching your bugs & fish, etc. (That's just me though.)
To me, it feels much more "homey" & manageable. Even with the traditional locations of Animal Crossing, they can still do a lot more with it without needing to expand the scope of the game to something completely different.

 I doubt they'd force that on us though. After all.. it was originally Animal *Forest* so yeah..
