Just curious! I was honestly quite surprised there were only 8 new villagers this time around for New Horizons compared to the 100 new ones (and new species!) for New Leaf and another 50 brought back with Welcome Amiibo. I do love seeing new character designs so I always welcome more villagers.
Given how the switch has allowed for dlc and updates, what are the chances of more villagers coming out for New Horizons in the future?
i mean, it’s always a possibility - i think nintendo might want to drop more of the anticipated stuff like events and npcs and buildings before introducing or reintroducing new villagers but that’s just my opinion aha
I doubt it. There are roughly 400 now, with some being huge favorites. Adding more to the list would be extremely cumbersome. Look how many people say it's almost impossible to get their favorite now. Upping the total will make that even worse.
I actually don't think that they will add new villagers or at least not for the next year. I do wish they'd add more villager slots on the island though
Since they bought back new characters in new leaf after the game came out, there's a good chance they will in new horizons, but probably not till next year. I bet they're more focused on bringing new features/content at this point
I was hoping they'd introduce a new species like bats with NH and im sad they dropped the ball there, but im thankful for dom. I don't think there will be new villagers, no. Sadly.
I do hope and pray they bring back marcy and champ though.
I don't think they'll add any new villagers unless it's through an Amiibo update of some kind where they partner with other companies, as they did with Sanrio and some other Nintendo titles.
Whether or not specifically those villagers will be doing back (eg. Felyne), I'm not sure. That probably partially depends on whatever licensing or business agreements were put in place in New Leaf and whether Nintendo would like for that to continue.
There seems like there are already so many villagers in the game that I find it hard to anticipate that they will add any more, but I guess we'll see!
I do think that they didn't add enough new villagers to this game (and that's probably part of the reason Raymond is so popular and thus so hated), but I don't see them adding more later. It would be great but just wouldn't make sense to me? But I can see them bringing back villagers from the older games especially if they weren't present in wild world or new leaf. For example Carmen's design is so much better than most mouse villagers so I wish they brought her into the series
