Whilst I am liking that Nintendo are releasing old games to be playable on the Nintendo Wii U Gamepad, I do have one particular issue that I need to address with them as a loyal Nintendo customer.

I have quoted my email from my point of view.

I am a very loyal customer of Nintendo, I have bought nearly all of the Legend of Zelda games and Animal Crossing games and I have nearly 270 video games in total and most of them are Nintendo games because I like how innovative Nintendo are as a company.
It is ALWAYS great to be able to play a new Nintendo game, whether it be Nintendo DS, Nintendo Wii U or any Nintendo console.

I am sending this complaint email to you because there is a feature that has been confirmed and it is REALLY disappointing.

The feature I am complaining is that I cannot justify paying ?1.49 for my SNES Virtual Console games and ?0.99 for my NES Virtual Console games JUST to be able to play them on the Nintendo Wii U Gamepad.

The second reason which is backing up why I cannot justify this is because the saves from the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console versions have now been confirmed to be incompatible with the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console versions and I could lose my data.
This means that I would not have my complete data on Secret of Mana or Super Mario World and this is annoying me to be honest as I put lots of time in to get the complete data and I'd hate to lose it as they weren't easy games to complete 100%.

I just want to know if there was any possible way to have it so my Nintendo Wii Virtual Console version saves will work with the new versions even if it is a future update to the Nintendo Wii U as then I will be able to finally justify paying the fees to upgrade.
Maybe like making a game save converter or something, I am not too sure...

I will say though that I don't USUALLY complain about Nintendo as I know how good of a company it is, but this has really confused me and I am not sure of ever upgrading my games if this cannot be implemented somehow.

Sony PlayStation charge for a game once and after that, I am able to transfer games AND saves freely from my Sony PlayStation 3 and my Sony PlayStation Vita and so that leaves me wondering why my favourite company Nintendo are doing things this way.
I will always be a loyal customer of Nintendo, but I am just confused at this feature.

Does anyone agree with this issue? If so, please tell me in the comments and I will send Nintendo further details in a future email to them.

I don't have a wii u yet but I have a question...

Do you buy the game for the wii u and then have to pay an extra .99 to play them on the game pad?

Either way, if you have to pay for the virtual console to be played that's fine. I buy virtual console all the time on my 3ds. But if you have to be charged first to buy it and then charged again to play it on the game pad, that's pretty odd.

You are correct in what you said Kaiaa, for example, if you purchased a SNES game from the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console, you have to pay ?1.49 to upgrade it on the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console.
If you just purchased it on the Nintendo Wii U Virtual Console, it would cost ?5.49 PER SNES game.
Either way, Nintendo would have ripped you off as you shouldn't need to pay TWICE as you have bought the game already from the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console.

Let's see...

The first issue isn't too bad at first glance. It's certainly better than paying the full price on the same Wii VC title again. However, the small fee just to get the games to be playable on your Wii U GamePad does add up. This can be even more irritating when you consider that 20 NES games installed on your Wii Mode will eat up around $20.
Also, an user who purchased the same titles on eShop would have ended up to spend less for them, like around $100. Those who bought them on both Wii and Wii U will end up spending $120 in total for the same games.

The second issue is even more baffling, considering that the saved data of a Wii VC game could be easily converted into a Wii U VC save data. I mean, why weren't they able to do that? Is that due of the way games downloaded from eShop handle their saved data is different?
The same issue happened on the transferring DSiWares from DSi to 3DS, as doing so will lose their saved data in the process.
